Old Forge vacation!

The bedrooms and beds were very comfortable, the kitchen was very spacious and we absolutely love the back deck. It had a beautiful view of the river. The cottage was on the end of the street and it was very peaceful and relaxing! The walk into town was about 5 minutes which made it so nice to be able to walk everywhere! We definitely would stay here again! The host communicated in a very timely manner within any questions we had!
Definitely a five star place!!! Highly recommend !!

High end price for mediocre property
Publié le 18 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayBooked for 7 nights but left early. Place had mice crawling on the counters, ants in the silverware drawer and leaking pipes into downstairs shower. Floating dock was secured with one set of bolts with boards falling off. This property was not what I saw in the pictures. Honestly it looked like it hadn't been kept up for at least a few months, if not longer. When I talked to the owner about the mice his response was, " Is that a problem?" Well yeah, for the price I paid I didn't expect to be scraping up mouse droppings and clearing traps. We were offered a different rental, but its location was not near Old Forge, which was our main point for selecting this property. When we informed the owner we were leaving early because of the problems we asked for a one night refund and were ignored. Anyone considering this property should request updated pictures and a certificate from an exterminator saying the house is clear of mice.

Thank you for your feedback. The maintenance concerns are being tackled by our team.
As discussed, there never has been a mouse in this house in 30 years. Moments after receiving the alert of a mouse presence, I arrived with 4 traps and 4 bait stations. Both the mice were eliminated and we haven’t seen one since. I also offered to come remove the traps as they filled.

Family Retreat
Publié le 7 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThe location of the cabin was perfect. The back porches overlooked the river making for an enjoyable stay. The kitchen was not very well equipped: missing any mixing bowls, Spatulas, and working can opener. The stand alone AC could not keep up with the need. A few more chairs for the dinning table would be helpful. We had a lot of towels and a good washer/dryer, but no wash cloths or hand towels.

Thank you for your feedback- more bowls, spatulas and a can opener have been added. (Unfortunately sometimes those items don’t always stay in the house)
We have upgraded the AC for next season.
Wash cloths and hand towels are a part of our normal stock, and I’m sorry there were none available to you during your stay. I would have been happy to bring them to you. Thanks again for your feedback as it is welll received and appreciated :)

Comfortable house in a great location

The house is in a great location on the river, quiet, and has accommodation to make everyone feel comfortable, including our two year old son and small dog. The sandbox and toys were a big hit with the toddler! The main complaints were that it was pretty dusty in some spots, the high chair was still dirty and the kitchen was lacking a few pieces. Also, the two air conditioners really struggled (outside temps were in the low 80s). The fans helped, though. What did not help was the downstairs radiators for some reason were generating heat even though they were supposedly turned off. Other than that, it was apparent that Jason took care of some of the complaints left by the previous reviewer. In general we had a good stay!

Great location but not as advertised and property in disrepair
Publié le 15 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayStayed at the property with my 3 kids and in-laws. We were very disappointed in the condition of the house upon our arrival. It did not look like it had been cleaned at all. As soon as we walked in, it smelled like wet dog and there were paw prints on the glass doors. The toilets and tub were filthy and had urine stains on them, and the shower had tiles that were loose and sticking up. The decks and deck furniture were filthy and we had to clean them before we could sit on the chairs. The railing is held up in 2 places by bungee cords because it is loose, and some of the floorboards are rotted and loose on the deck, which I felt was very unsafe. The property is advertised as having air-conditioning, but there are only two units in the house, one of which was in a hallway that did not provide any cooling into the bedrooms. This would’ve been fine if the house also had fans or even screens in the windows so that we could open the windows and get the cool mountain air, but there were no screens or fans. We reached out to Jason and he did bring a couple of screens and fans the following day which did make things a little better. The upstairs toilet kept clogging, and the kitchen faucet in the sink is extremely loose. Overall, the house needs to be maintained much better, especially for what is being charged per night.
That being said, the house is in a great location and the view from the decks is lovely. Jason was responsive when I reached out to him and seems very kind.

We’re booking this place again!

The kitchen is wide open to the family room with a great island and the dining room table sits 8-10 ppl. It’s so close to town, as well, BUT it doesn’t feel like it. The property manager, Jason, was so prompt with my questions, and was a true professional. I HIGHLY recommend this sweet house!

Bathrooms were not clean, paid additional for a clean house.
There was no toilet paper or paper towels
There was no propane for the gas grill so or fire pit.
Requested propane the first night we were there (5 night) Jason never brought over the propane.
There was no heat.
Non responsive host
Pros:
4 separate bedrooms
Plenty of room
Beautiful view of the lake, easy access to kayaks and paddle board.
Good location, close to town and walking trails.
