"The Inn at Kulaniapia Falls is an absolute hidden gem on the Big Island. You have your own waterfall! And you only need to share it with a few other guests! How do you get better than that? There are a few confusing things about this place which might not be obvious on a third-party booking site, so I'll try to explain here. 1. There are two broad accommodation types here. The Inn, which is an inn, and the cabins. The cabins are located on a farm next to the Inn. You have to turn right, not left, from the road from Hilo to access the farm. This can be confusing at night, since the area is quite dark. 2. The cabins do not have their own plumbing; you will have to use toilets and showers located at the barn (they were squeaky clean). The cabins have solar panels to run lights and charge phones, but for anything higher voltage, you'll need to go to the barn. Oddly, the WiFi was excellent in the cabins. 3. "Barn" is a somewhat misleading term. The top floor of the barn is a laid-back lounge/kitchen area. You'll share it with the other guests and with the farm staff. The kitchen was well-equipped and had some basic oils, sauces, and spices for common use. The staff were all very cool and passionate young people. They gave excellent recommendations on things to do in the area. One staffer made us the best cup of coffee we've had in a long time. 4. If you stay at the cabins, you can use the services at the Inn, including booking meals and experiences."

"Down a beautiful, quiet street, you will find the most amazing vacation rental near Hilo. A perfect place for exploring all the charms of Hilo town and the entire area. As soon as we drove up, we knew we had arrived at a special place. A Hawaiian “cabin” with all that you need for a relaxing , restorative stay. The home is comfortable, the neighbors are friendly and the outdoor spaces right above the crashing surf are incredible. Oh, and an outdoor shower! Saul, is a wonderful host and an incredible human that we were fortunate to meet. He seriously wants you to have a wonderful experience at his home. In hindsight,I wish we’d stayed longer, but we had planned 4 nights in Kona after we left “Saul’s place.” I’d love to return someday and would choose to stay a little longer and skip Kona. I would recommend this home to anyone, looking for an immersive vacation. I can’t say enough about how wonderful our stay was. I am forever grateful for the opportunity. "

"Val was the GM there when we stayed and she did a great job with everything. She gave us local recommendations for things to do. The room had a beautiful view of the water. There is a little trail to walk to this secluded beach with breathtaking sunrises. They catered a very nice 7 course meal one night for the guest and it was delightful. It all felt like an upscale bed and breakfast. Great secluded getaway. "

"Lovely cottage separate from the owners house but on the same lot. Great views of the ocean and sunrise. Well equipped kitchenette for self-catering as there are not many restaurants near by, however there is a grocery store in the next town over. Nice to hear the frogs at night, was very soothlng. Morning will bring sounds of cockerels so if you're a light sleeper bring earplugs. There is a fairly soft double mattress and a say bed, making this a perfect getaway for a couple. "
