We arrived to check in after booking our stay in mid August, this was confirmed by Expedia/Book a Bach and our payment taken. When we arrived to check in on 30 December the hotel staff could find no record of our booking. They tried everything to see where our booking was. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to try and find alternative accommodation for the night. We could not get hold of Expedia/Book a Bach, the 0800 number has been in overload for the past 24 hours, the virtual chat on the app was useless and achieved nothing, I have tried to email with no response. I want a refund for my booking but it seems Expedia are missing in action. This is not the fault of the hotel staff, they were great and the property looks amazing.3 1/2 hours drive later we found somewhere to stay. Still no response from Expedia on my refund and seems there is no way to lodge a claim for a refund on the app. Come on Expedia, get in touch and get this sorted, you are quick to promote yourselves and take the booking/payment, what about some service when things go wrong. I wait in anticipation before taking this further via other avenues. A great holiday spoilt by some faceless corporate who cant be contacted. Thanks to the Opononi Hotel staff who did all they could to rectify this at a very busy time, it was much appreciated.
