Perfect family getaway
Publié le 12 août 2024 sur HomeAwayWe recently stayed with our whole family at Whispering Pines for a visit and enjoyed the lovely scenery and large house with plenty of bedrooms and living spaces to spread out in. Remote with beautiful wildlife and gorgeous views!

Orland Maine Lakefront Cabin

The house is large enough to accommodate a big party which fit our needs but we ran into some issues with rodents, lack of enough fans and clogged drains. We purchased a few fans and the owner was responsive to the issues. However the rodent issue put a damper on the overall stay as we shifted gears from making meals to hitting restaurants.
So overall we enjoyed our stay getting out on the lake nearly everyday but with the issues experienced, thought the fee was a bit high.

We're glad you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for saying that we were responsive. The plumber removed hair from one drain and said the other had a leaver that wasn't opened all the way. Pest control took care of the mouse. Regarding the fans: We didnt expect to have that level of humidity for that long. That was unprecedented. We will have more than three fans next summer. Hieaway on the water
Publié le 15 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayIt was a wonderful place to stay, tucked away in the woods by the water. I love this old house, the character, crank windows and the beauty of the outdoors around it. A wonderful place to stay!

Whispering Pines Aug ‘23
Publié le 19 août 2023 sur HomeAwayThe property had beautiful views. However there was a musty, mildew smell that set off several allergic reactions in our family. We did not sleep well the 1st night and left early the next morning skipping our last two days and getting an hotel room. We alerted Pat to our experience and she offered us a reduced rate on a future stay. We appreciated her offer but will be staying somewhere else.

I am so sorry to hear about your experience. In the three years that we've been sharing the property, no guest has complained about a smell. We did get a lot of rain this year, but the family before you didn't mention a smell and my family was there before them. I will double check. The culprit for musty smells is usually the basement.
