Loved staying here and waking up to that view. The horse was cute. Being pet friendly was a giant bonus and my dogs loved running around the property. Owner is super lovely. I read some people saying they had no reception but if youre with Spark the reception is excellent.

We loved the peacefulness and tranquility of this retreat. However the only thing I would recommend improving would be the cleanliness of the place. There were used blankets pillows and sheets. Not clean or prepared before our stay. We loved seeing the animals around the property and talking to the owner. Another thing was the back door was not secure or locked. I did feel abit unsafe staying there. It needed an upgrade with things like an air con because it does get quite hot in the house. Other than that, really lovely stay. Just a few minor improvements needed. Thanks

Great for book readers who want to be incommunicato
Publié le 30 janv. 2023 sur HomeAwayI struggled to relax and sleep in the property with being unable to lock the doors. The ranchslider has no lock and even though the place is in the middle of nowhere, I felt uneasy knowing that the house could not be locked up.
There was also absolutely no cellphone reception at all. I had to drive to the SH1/SH46 Rangipo junction to stay in contact with my family.
The neighbour is quite friendly and popped over for a chat a few times.
If you're OK sleeping with an unlocked door and want to bury yourself in a book for a few days, this is a great place to do so. It just wasn't for me so I ended up going home a few days earlier than planned.

Tidy bach with wonderful view

You wake up and open the curtains to the views of Lake Rotoaira. The bach has all the essentials and a very comfortable bed. Centrally located to many beautiful walks, and of course just down the road from the finish of the Tongariro Crossing. Thanks again Dave.

Beautiful retreat, friendly owner

Get what you pay for.
Publié le 19 août 2022 sur HomeAwayThere was no internet, and no enterainment. Not even a pack of cards. No board games or anything. I found of a couple of books in a cupboard.
There was several notes left over the place from previous occupants. The bedding was old and uncomfortable. There is nothing near by, 15 mins to the local cafe.
I booked this place because it was close to the mountain, instead of booking in Turangi, but we ended up going into Turangi both days anyway just for food and something to do.
The owner, who also lives next door, had to enter the home while we were there to turn on power or something which made us uncomfortable.
This place is really cheap, but you get what you pay for. I recommend paying a bit more and getting somewhere with internet, entertainment, and in a good location.
The view of the lake was good though.

Thankyou for your great hospitality, You went above and beyond, even lighting us a fire, each night, you are such a kind host Dave, We Already miss you and the cottage, The views anytime of day or night are just gorgeous, the peace and quiet and only noises are nature, that was great, And Daves approaching tunes lol, We will Be back, thankyou. I never had a family bach to visit when i grew up, but the next time i come back it will literally feel like coming home. Wishing the Host a great and successful year with many more people happy making memories at this Idyllic location
