Total delight
Publié le 12 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayOne of our favorite rentals ever, such a joy to get to stay here! Pictures are just a tiny glimpse, so much better in person even. We especially enjoyed the General Store right next door - wonderful food and service. Thank you for all the love and care put into creating and maintaining this special place! 10/10

Beautiful property for a long weekend
Publié le 22 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe Post Office was a great place for us to spend a long weekend and explore the coast. Everything we needed was there, we enjoyed the fire pit and having access to the grill. We walked to the lighthouse which was a nice chill outing, then headed up to Acadia on the other full day we had, about a two hour drive but doable as a day trip. Communication was great and the space felt very homey!

Wonderful!
Publié le 14 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayThe charming home above the village post office was unique and provided clean, quiet, and comfortable accommodations. The deck and back yard were beautiful places to relax and have some peaceful moments. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was large so there was plenty of room for three ladies to have counter space. Three of the beds require going up ladders which adds to the charm, but may limit who can sleep on the upper levels. The top level is surrounded by windows with beautiful views - it was like sleeping in a tree house but with the convenience of being indoors. The home is conveniently located to drive to see all the beauty of East coast and inner Maine. The Owl’s Head Lighthouse was a favorite and is only a short walk. The Host was amazing and responded quickly when we couldn’t find the coffee that was on a shelf we walked right by. The cute General Store is next door where you can get almost anything including food and drinks. Be sure to make reservations to eat at Jordan Pond in Acadia National Park and to watch the sunset from Cadillac Mountain. Also, great lobster at McCloons and Claws which are nearby. And, go see the McDonald’s in a house in Portland! I highly recommend staying at the Owl’s Head Post Office.

Incredible stay!
Publié le 25 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThe post office did not disappoint! Our stay was wonderful! Such a charming and unique set up with so many handmade and antique details. We loved the porch and yard! The frog pond and dock/deck were such fun for our kids. Incredible location next to the general store and close to many beaches! We hope to stay again! Thank you!

Enchanting
Publié le 30 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayStaying at the Owls Head post office was like staying in a storybook. We couldn’t have imagined a more enchanting location, next door to a precious general store with a restaurant, and also down the street from a gorgeous beach and light house. The beds are just right and the decor satisfies the imagination. Thank you for this special place!

Quintessentially Owls Head - Perfect Wedding Reception Venue
Publié le 24 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur stay was perfect. The photos online are good, but seeing it in person makes you realize how big the space is! Every inch is decorated with trinkets, heart rocks, and of course, owls! The air conditioning works very well downstairs. Pointing a fan up the stairs and keeping the cupola windows open helps with keeping the top floors cool. Being next to the General Store is a huge plus - delicious food and fudge within walking distance when you don’t feel like fighting the hustle and bustle of Rockland!
Doug graciously agreed to let us have our wedding reception here after getting married on the beach. He was extremely responsive, gave great local advice, and was even in the gardens the day before we checked in to make everything look good (it looked amazing!!!). The backyard garden was beautiful. It was large, yet intimate, and I couldn’t imagine our wedding reception being held anywhere else. Mosquitos weren’t an issue for me, once the sun went down the beetles came out, but that’s Maine for you! Whether you’re looking for a place to host an event or just wanting to get away, this is absolutely the place to stay.
