Casco Antiguo, also known as Casco Viejo, or the ‘old quarter,” is Panama City’s historic district. Considered a UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Site, the district dates back to 1673, and features vibrant plazas and picturesque brick-paved streets surrounded by colorful buildings. The area is ideal for walking, discovering history and enjoying a variety of fine cuisine. Come for some of the city’s best gastronomy, culture and photo ops, and stay to mingle with the locals in the heart of the nightlife scene.
Start your visit with a lively walk through the neighborhood. You’ll encounter some religious history at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Panama City located in the main square, Plaza Mayor, as well as the Church of San Jose, famous for its amazing golden altar. As you walk, make sure to stop at Plaza de Francia The plaza is also home to Las Bóvedas, a monument that was once used as a defense against pirate attacks.
Casco Antiguo is also home to several of the city’s top museums, including the Museo del Canal (The Canal Museum), and the Museo de la Mola, featuring the traditional textile art made by the Guna indigenous group. You’ll also find the iconic stone archway at Arco Chato, which is the remains of a church built by Dominican friars, and a beautiful photo opportunity.
Next, be sure to visit the Panama National Theater to see the stunning ceiling frescoes painted by Robert Lewis. On your walk, you’ll also get the chance to do some shopping, with opportunities to buy local crafts and visit high-end boutiques.
When you get hungry, you’re in luck. Casco Viejo is home to the heart of the gastronomy scene in Panama City. You’ll be met with the smells of grilled seafood wafting through its historic streets, and you’ll get to try some of Panama’s best dishes, as well as cuisine from all over the world made by premiere chefs. After dinner, check out the nightlife scene, or take in the sunset with views of the capital from one of the amazing rooftop bars overlooking the city.

This artsy condo features a personalized mural made by Oscar Melgar, a renowned urban artist, most notably known for his work with “Diablo Rojos”, which are the colorful and folkloric Panamanian busses. The mural features a traditional Kuna woman with the mola dressing, representing the indigenous people of the Caribbean San Blas area.
The condo is spacious for two couples or a family of four. The first bedroom has a comfy queen bed, and a 40” TV, and a private attached bathroom as well as the 2nd bedroom, with the difference that it does not have a TV.
The living room also has a TV with Netflix, Disney+, and over 3,000 streaming channels from all around the world.
The kitchen is compact yet well equipped, and the laundry room is adjacent to it with a washer and drier.
A baby chair can be provided upon request prior to arrival
Reaching La Cuadra Residences, you may take as reference Plaza Herrera, or the Restaurant Aya La Vida, Located in the base floor and you may see it from the street. The entrance to the building is throught the black door
La Cuadra Residences will be directly ahead at the intersection of Calle 9a Este and Avenida A.
Parking Options:
Parking on Site: We have limited parking spaces available on site, it has an extra cost of $20 per day, big cars don't go through since it has a limit of size.
Casco Parking: Located on Avenida A, Casco Parking is a multi-level parking facility offers secure parking and is a short walk to La Cuadra Residence.
Street Parking:
Look for street parking along Avenida A or nearby streets. Remember to follow local parking regulations to avoid fines. Also note some people may ask for money to "take care" of your car, we do not recommend using them unless you do agree to pay and have cash (at least $5) otherwise they may damage your car. This activity is not encouraged in Panama yet you may encounter the situation.
Additional Tips
Safety: El Chorrillo is next to the building, and it can be a less touristy area, so be cautious and aware of your surroundings as you drive or walk through. It’s generally safe, but it's good to stay alert. We do not recommend go into this area, and maintain yourself in the limits where police is supervising or close by.
Traffic: Traffic can be heavy, especially during peak hours. Plan your visit during less busy times if possible.
Navigation: Use a GPS or a mapping app to help navigate the streets as they can be confusing and one-way in many places.
To ensure a smooth start to your visit, we provide a complimentary set of toiletries upon your arrival. This includes essentials such as shampoo, conditioner, soap, and toilet paper. However, please note that these initial supplies are meant to get you started, and once they are depleted, we kindly ask our guests to purchase their own toiletries for the remainder of their stay. Please note that for long stays there is an aditional cleaning cost of $25 per week.
Just a friendly reminder that our pet fee is $50 per furry companion, it includes a comfortable bed for them, 2 bowls for food and water, a pad for their necessities and a bag of treats for being a good, to ensure a paw-sitively great experience for everyone, Thanks for being a responsible pet parent! 🐾🏡
This is a lovely apartment located near the central area of the Historical Center, Casco Viejo. It is important to mention that this area is near less privileged areas of the city, therefore we recommend you to approach locals with respect and caution. For your safety please avoid showing off expensive items or walking alone in empty areas.
