Simple Elegance
Publié le 12 juill. 2013 sur HotelsI almost do not want to rate this Inn, because treasures are not always meant to be found. The Pelican Inn is a treasure from another time - when going to the beach meant relaxing on a hammock in the shade while exploring a good book; taking long, quiet walks on an open beach and spending time talking with old friends and some new, who cross paths with you on your travels.
The Inn itself is steeped in history & elegance of a bygone era, kept up by the wonderful family that now runs it. If you are expecting a resort with a pool & bar open all night, keep looking...but if you are looking for an unexpected oasis of calm, while in the company of a close-knit group of other travelers seeking refuge from the busy world, search no more.

Pelican Inn A slice of Heaven!
Publié le 18 juin 2013 sur HotelsMy sister and I went to the Pelican Inn on Pawleys Island for a time to reminisce and relax. As children, we walked past the Inn and said we would stay there when we were adults. I had emailed the owner about our upcoming trip and some details. When we arrived, we were back in time where we grew up. We were greeted by Emma Taylor and her warmth and exuberance was contagious. The Taylor's have taken this Inn to a whole new level. It is Southern living at its finest. There were no Television sets, no blasting radios, nothing to distract you from finding a quiet place to read, draw, etc. The hammocks are placed perfectly from the Inn, to the dock and overlooking the ocean with the most amazing breeze. Breakfast and Lunch are included and served family style and the presentation and the food is all southern and served by Corrine and her family with true grace and hospitality. Everyone becomes like family for that short time you spend there. If you want to go back in time to where life was simple, everyone is not in a hurry, board games and reading are entertainment, delicious food served family style, taking a shower outside when you come off the beach, experience the beauty of sunrises and sunsets, then this place is for you. I will be returning more than once and for those that remember the show Cheers "Where everyone knows your name", is true here as well. For you people that cannot live without your computer, Wifi is available.

Pelican Inn, Pawleys Island SC
Publié le 18 août 2011 sur HotelsInn is quaint, as it was built in 1854. Nice boardwalk to beach over sand dune, boardwalk lit at night. Breakfast and lunch are included and the food was delicious. There are hammocks for relaxing. Staff was very friendly and helpful with directions.
