Remarkable property
Expensive, but worth it. We enjoyed every minute, and it was so incredible to come home to a little slice of paradise every afternoon after excursions. An acreage abutting the ocean seemed almost too good to be true (and to be fair, there are trade offs here). House is large with 3 full bedrooms and an upstairs area with a pull out couch. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of towels, kitchen reasonably stocked. Grill out on the lanai was perfect (we spent most of our time there). Could not get my younger daughter out of the pool ;) No property is perfect (although this came pretty close for us). It's a bit out of town (20 minutes is pretty accurate), Hilo side is of course a bit wet at times (but makes for a lush surrounding). We loved this part. Biggest trade off for us, was the lack of AC (which we knew about coming in). In spring, less of an issue, but for full sunny days the upstairs especially could get warm and then cooling things off could take a bit. You need to leave all windows that you can, open (some screens have small holes so we closed those). Plenty of sliding doors. My wife, called this luxury camping in a 3000 square foot house, and she's not far wrong. You get a great exposure to nature. In the summer, this may or may not be a bigger issue with the heat. We managed fine in March. Overall strong recommend.
