Hidden Gem
Publié le 4 déc. 2024 sur HomeAway13 of us from our extended family stay here annually for a few years now. We love it and it's a hidden gem not too far from home. Plenty of outdoorsy activities, room to play for lots of kids, and the owner is great. I almost don't want to leave a good review so we can keep it our little secret (it's that awesome). You won't be disappointed if you stay here.

Family Thanksgiving Fun at the lake
Publié le 21 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayFirst stay at Waters Edge did NOT disappoint. So blessed to celebrate an early Family-giving (Taco Tuesday really) with our adult kids and extended family. Everyone had the same response upon entering....WOW! Open concept living room/dining room/kitchen plus large outdoor living space were ample space for all. The 4 bedrooms were perfect for our group but look forward to renting all 7 when the pool is open. House, furniture, amenities are all relatively new and in great shape. 2 ovens, 2 dishwashers, huge fridge, ice maker and GI-NORMOUS dining room table with room for 16 and amazing views of Lake Aldred! Pool table, hot tub, basketball court, play set, outdoor bar/tv made for lots of fun. Brian and Karen are the A Team of Hosts and highly recommend. Til next time Pequea!

Hidden Gem
Publié le 18 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayBeautiful home. We all had plenty of room, 12 total. Very clean. Accurate to pictures on site. Very easy check in, and Brian was very helpful showing us the house. We all loved our stay. The sunrise and sunsets were gorgeous over the lake view.

Family Reunion

The house was lovely - very spacious and well kept - with a beautiful view of the lake. Iht should be noted that there is a railroad track that runs along the back of the property - which you can hear throughout the night, if you are a lighter sleeper. Highly recommended.

Awesome Stay

Surprises!
Publié le 17 oct. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur stay included 11 adults. Plenty of room and loved the dining table to fit all. Nicely appointed kitchen (cabinet labels would have been nice) and bathrooms (loved the rainshowers), gameroom and extra amenities. Very pretty view of the river and wildlife that lives there. Nice quiet area, however let's talk about the elephant in the room. And for some reason never gets covered in the description of the property or appears in ANY reviews.
Trains! When asked about them, was told only 4 or 5 in late afternoon and early evening. The reality: there were 11 trains that passed (just 25 feet from the deck) in the first 24 hours of our stay, between the hours of 4 pm and 6:30 am. 12+ hours of rattling, vibrating, awakening, startling noise. Some trains took as long as 8 minutes to clear. Over 100 cars. Sounds like fun to watch, but wreaks havoc if you like your sleep. I would think it would be a safety hazzard for small children playing in the yard since the only warning is the oncoming vibration. On subsequent days there were anywhere from 6 to 12 trains per day, most at night. Our stay included weekdays and a weekend.
If you are a train enthusiast, this is the place for you. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs and a loud noise canceling machine.
In addition, when I booked this property on vrbo for (clearly) 11 people, apparently the fee is only for up to 8 people. Be wary. The owner offered to cancel our reservation if we didn't agree to additional fees.

The train, is freight and there’s not a set schedule. Typically the train will start running around 3-4am and few trains,
3-5 will come by. Then you might see 1-3 trains during the day plus service trucks checking the tracks. Then they normally start running again around sunset with an additional 3-5 in the evening. But you never no, if freight. They don’t blow a whistle unless someone or something is on or near the tracks.
Then let’s talk about the additional fee. It clearly states the listing is for 8 guests, then there’s an additional fee for 8 guests and above, even the pictures say about the additional fee for the extra rooms.
I asked the guests if they read the listing, that there’s an additional fee. If you’re not ok with that then it’s no problem to cancel your reservation. I’m working on changing the listing so there will not be an additional fee but then even small groups of 8 and under will be paying more too. Because the rates will increase across the board to solve this problem.
I’m still not sure why the guest only left a 3 star review, I even meet with her before her arrival at the property so see could get a true feel for the property ahead of time as per her request. I try to accommodate guests and only hope that they enjoy and have a wonderful time at the property.

Immaculate Tastefully Decorated Home

Comfortable mattresses, well stocked kitchen, commercial huge refrigerator, full freezer, even an ice maker. You want for nothing in this home. We were also pleasantly surprised with the beauty of the area. My family has been going on a fall family weekends since 2002. We have decided this is the best home to date. We'll see you again next year.
