Petaluma Base Camp

Quiet place to sleep. Was an easy in and out and afforded a pleasant morning walk. Access to washer/dryer was a nice bonus. Truly only slept there so can't vouch for other amenities

Great Location near everything.

Nice 1 bedroom with loft. Very comfortable for our family of 5 over the Christmas Holiday. Had all the equipment we needed. Very close to downtown Petaluma and right off the 101 Freeway. Two minor things keep this from being perfect 5. Parking lot is extremely dark and desperately needs some lighting, perhaps a flood light on a motion sensor. Loft bed is very squeaky, to the point that some of my family members had issues sleeping. Overall, a very cool place to stay and I highly recommend.

Great space! Unusual location!

The is one of maybe four apartments that have been built inside what was probably a warehouse. The location is in a quiet industrial area about a mile south of the center of Petaluma. Parking is very convenient. The layout and finishes of the apartment we rented were excellent. The kitchen and dining area worked well. The artwork and furnishings were interesting! The owner was very responsive to the one problem (heating) we encountered, We recommend this apartment highly and are likely to return.

Did not meet expectations

Publié le 16 nov. 2022 sur HomeAway
I'll start with the positives. The property did offer what was listed, could sleep 5 with ease, one bathroom, and a stocked kitchen. The owner was responsive to my request for an early check in. The check in process was easy. It was close to downtown Petaluma. Some of the furniture was different from the pictures in the listing, but was in decent shape. What you don't see in the listing is that there is a big sky light. So, although it sleeps 5, 3/5 would be rising with the sun. The bed in the loft was very squeaky, with just my very petite 6 year old on it. The walls were incredibly thin. We heard people having conversations next door, as well as music playing. Our first morning I was woken up at 5:00 AM by someone's alarm going off next door. The property seemed pretty clean upon first arriving. But once we got to taking showers, we noticed that there was dirt/dust along the edges of the shower stall that we didn't notice until we ran the water. There was quite a bit of hair on the shelf. There was one Oxi Clean bottle and it was nearly empty. There was a bottle of bleach, but no bucket, gloves, or spray bottle to use it with. From day 1, we noticed the toilet wasn't flushing properly, but made it work with the decorative like plunger. On the 4th plunging event, we could not get the toilet to unplug. I messaged the owner and it took him several hours to get back to us. When he did respond, he said that the plunger we had was likely not good enough, and that his cleaner would come out and arrive in 20 minutes. It took well over an hour for her to arrive. (I sent my family ahead to me to a family gathering, then took an Uber there). All she did was use a sturdier plunger to solve the problem. She said that the plumbing in the entire building had been an ongoing problem. Between her saying that and the owner saying that the plunger was probably not strong enough it felt like the owner knew of an existing problem. This was located in what was a warehouse like area. At night the parking lot did not have any lighting. The only light came from the porch lights of the 2 or 3 rental units on that side of the building. One night, someone tried to open our door. After I forcefully yelled at the person who was trying to get in. It sounded like it was a renter next door, but the lack of light and general area made the situation feel a lot worse than it probably was. The dishwasher was old and really loud. The ice dispenser didn't work.

It is important to read between the lines on this review. You can’t please everyone, no matter how hard you try. We clean thoroughly between stays. We respond as quickly as possible to issues that are brought up by guests and address legitimate problems. If something isn’t working properly or is broken, we strive to fix it in as timely of a manner as possible, within reason. Our overall rating on all sites is very close to 5 of 5. We’re not perfect, but strive to be excellent. As premium hosts, it is our responsibility to maintain a high quality of stays and the overall experience for all involved. It is important for both guests and hosts to read review responses as we don’t always write reviews, and not all reviews will be reasonable. In this case, yes the toilet was clogged. The provided plunger in the unit does the trick in most cases. These people needed an industrial plunger. I’m not sure why. We provided one as quickly as we can. In regard to noise from other units… this is a 1904 warehouse with units built out to todays high standards. yes, you can hear other guests and outside activities. as I write this review, I’m in a newly remodeled home on a half acre. Other Houses are relatively far away, but I can still often here people talking and outside noises if I try. Soundproofing is a challenge, but we are addressing sound proofing in this building within reason, as we build new units and remodel older ones in our unassuming from the outside, very cool on the inside industrial vibe Warehouse Inn.. (The oldest unit is 12 years old, the original building is 1904! We’re eminently remodeling the oldest unit!.) we will address the ice maker issue. The dishwasher isn’t new, but it isn’t broken or poorly maintained either. As I know the dishwasher may be too loud for this guest, and they have a need for an industrial plunger when they use the toilet, may I suggest to this guest that they stay somewhere else if ever in town again? this will leave room for other guests that appreciate a responsive host in what is possibly the coolest stay in Petaluma…. Just read my other reviews as a testament to that! Thank you for reading my response. Frank Dostal

Hidden Sonoma County gem

From the exterior of the industrial warehouse in which this is located, you would never guess that a very stylish loft apartment was inside. Nonetheless, there it is. With a queen bed downstairs and another in the loft, this could easily accommodate four guests. The large bathroom with an open shower is a nice amenity as well. The loft area gets a bit warm in summer weather, and it took some figuring out of the climate control system, but it was fine once we had it dialed in. The owner is extremely responsive and answered all of our questions promptly.

We had a great time at this property. It was the perfect size for our girls week in Napa. It was a bit of a drive to Napa wineries, but we knew that going in. Meticulously maintained and communication was excellent. We loved it and highly recommend it!

A Couple Things Need Attention Before this Property Can Be Great.

Publié le 12 août 2021 sur HomeAway
Overall, we enjoyed the space. My three friends and I went for a birthday trip, and the space was big enough that well all felt comfortable. The space was clean, although there were a couple of signs from the previous tenant, especially in the bathroom. The kitchen is well stocked, we had the dishes we needed, but there was no sponge in the kitchen, and the ice machine wasn't working. We were also a bit frustrated because the listing said it would accommodate 5, there were 4 of us in my party, and only 3 towels, and one extra blanket. There is a washing machine, so we could wash our own towels, but not if we all wanted to shower in the morning, which we couldn't do because of the towel issue. The space was cool and trendy, I especially liked the loft and the bed was very comfy, but the walls were EXTREMELY thin, and we could hear the tenants on both sides of us (one side was playing music, and the other sneezed a lot). The check-in process was easy, it's a door lock with a code, but I didn't receive any of the check-in information until I messaged the owner for it. Also, the space is at the back of a parking lot, and the listing would benefit from a description of what to expect when you pull in and how to find the building because we drove around for a bit trying to figure it out. Also, the Wifi was not listed, there was no information about places near the space, or suggested restaurants. When I messaged the owner for the second time, he gave me the Wifi, but it didn't work. At that point I didn't want to ask the owner again, so we lived without the internet, which was inconvient. There were also pieces of art and furniture that had price tags on them like they were for sale, which was odd, and made us nervous as they were quite expensive. Overall, this space has the opportunity to be really awesome, but it needs a little bit of attention in terms of check-in and amenities. The location is great, close to the downtown area. If the issues above are fixed, this would definitely be a place I recommend staying.
