Yiannis Cottage is situated in a small village in W. Crete, set above Spilia's Myrtidiotissa Church, with it's magnificent painted interior. Indulge yourself around your own beautiful private Pool, listening to bird-song and enjoying the scent of fragrant flowers.
Every year we made some changes in order to have a better and higher quality stay.
Our pool is salted, which means that we won't use chlorine, so the pool is totally ecological. We made also the pool heated for the colder months of the season (Spring and Autumn). 2 new big wooden sunbeds and a perfect for relaxing nest are provided to you. New pool tiles and some more details will be ready and wait for our guests for 2023.
We brought even closer nature to you and your table with more fruits
and vegetables from our garden and fresh eggs from a new small hennery a few meters away from the Cottage.
With respect to the architecture of the area, we have upgraded the facilities of the Cottage giving more emphasis to a larger bathroom & shower area and we also added a taller fence which gives more privacy to our guests.
Yiannis Cottage is provided with the special sign of the Greek Tourist Organization (EOT-1354121504) which secures the quality level of all services, terms and conditions our guests have the privilege to enjoy during their stay.

Whether you are looking for a totally relaxing, or a more adventurous holiday, you will find that Yiannis Cottage is the perfect base.

A bottle of olive oil, raki, and local wine from Yiannis own farm.
For you to enjoy leisurely breakfasts on your terrace overlooking the Pool, there is a breakfast pack consisting of bread, natural juices, eggs, bacon, honey and butter.
Cleaning and linen change.: Also included are bath (face and body) & Pool towels.
The Cottage is cleaned twice a week which includes linen and towel change.

Petite maison accueillante très bien équipée, fonctionnelle, chaleureuse. Un propriétaire très sympathique, présent si besoin et à l'écoute. Une superbe piscine qui plaît autant au petit qu'au grand. Un cadre magnifique tranquille!! Adapté pour une famille avec 2 enfants .

Tolle Liegenschaft auf Familien-Grundstück
Wir haben unsere Zeit im Juli 2024 zu dritt (2 Erwachsene, 1 Kind 12 Jahre) sehr genossen. Die Hütte ist in eine wunderbare Landschaft mit vielen Pflanzen eingebettet. Alles was man im Alltag braucht, steht einem zur Verfügung. Der Gastgeber verwöhnte uns mehrmals mit vielen leckeren lokalen Lebensmitteln. Er steht ausserdem jederzeit mit Rat und Tat zur Seite. I would highly recommend this villa for anyone wishing to avail of a home-to-home stay in Crete. So peaceful a place and after a couple of days back home in Ireland I cannot stop thinking of this beautiful villa and peaceful village. Our host couldn’t do enough for us during our stay and the villa was ideal, situated in a quiet village with a few local bars and restaurants in walking distance from the villa that perfectly suited us after a long day at the beach and our sightseeing tours. Lovely time, well served by Manos, who is always happy to help. A few points perhaps not previously mentioned in other reviews - The salt water pool is not as salty as the sea. Birds and cats are happy to drink from it. There is a water filter tap by the sink - saves laborious carrying of water bottle packs from the supermarkets. Separate aircon in bedroom and in sitting room. Manos has attached a gadget to the TV which picks up Netflix, etc. WiFi is good, but does occasionally drop out (it is Greece, after all). Manos provides a separate link via mobile phone connection, as a back up. Bed is comfortable - good mattress. Other than that, a lovely break and will look to book again for next year.

Perfect week in Crete
Our stay in Spilia was perfect start to finish - Manos was brilliant and on hand for anything we needed throughout (& kept us very well fed!) His booklet full of recommendations was really useful as well, we did/saw/ate lots that we wouldn’t have known about without it. The photos don’t do the villa justice, it’s very private and the flowers and bell tower and mountains in the distance make the most beautiful peaceful surroundings. The pool was wonderful, big enough for a proper swim - we also enjoyed the occasional visits from the many local cats! The inside is quiet, clean and comfortable - we both slept the best we have in ages! The village itself is very pretty - we tried two of the local tavernas and both were great (especially Ta Platanias) and there is a shop within walking distance. 10/10 - definitely recommend for any couple wanting to relax and explore Crete.

Wunderbarer Urlaub
Es war ein wundervoller Urlaub auf der schönen Insel Kreta. Das Haus von Manolis ist ganz ruhig in dem idyllischen Ort Spilia neben der Dorfkirche gelegen. Man hat absolut seine Ruhe. Der Pool (leichtes Salzwasser) ist ein Traum. Sehr groß und in einem sehr guten Zustand - Top gepflegt. Auch der Garten ist ein Paradies. Der Vermieter ist absolut hilfsbereit und sehr nett. Die Kommunikation war jederzeit einwandfrei. Manolis war immer erreichbar und konnte gute Ratschläge geben. Wir wurden von ihm sehr liebevoll umsorgt. Mal gab es was vom Bäcker und ein Willkommenspaket mit seinen eigenen Bio-Produkten gab es auch. Einfach fantastisch! Zu 100% zu empfehlen! Vielen lieben Dank an Manolis und seine Familie! Wir werden gerne wiederkommen! Efcharistó Manolis! Thank you very much for everything! We hope we meet us again and soon :)

Winter in Yiannis Cottage
What a surprise!! We booked this Cottage knowing that it s more a place for the summer. We booked it because of the heated salted pool and we didn;t regret it. We read the reviews about the place and the owner but we couldn' t expect that during this period of the year our experience could be SO fantastic! The place is different that the photos!!It s more and more beutiful!!The owner made a renovation which just finished the dates we get there. New pool tiles with a beautiful color which suits perfectly with the wonderful garden. The villa has new frames and doors, and the quality of the materials is very very good. Linens and towels (the pool towels are SO big) are provided and everything elase we asked was there. Manolis is an intelligent man we talked a lot and we wish we could spend more time with him. We were very lucky because we had 1 sunny week and we enjoyed the wooden sunbeds and the nest (both new i think). We are back in Germany and we have already booked this Villa for this April.

What a cosy place!!!
This was my third time at this region of Crete which is my favorite in Greece!!I choosed this villa based from the reviews and I was right!!! The villa is exactly what a couple needs for relaxing and more!!! The villa has everything you may need. 1)Privacy!Nobody can bother you.The entrance of the house is near a pricate family road. 2)You can feel isolated but a few steps away there are 2 grate tradisional taverns for foodbor drink. 3) The pool is very Big for 2 people,is salted and it is heated!!!!!!When we booked we didn't know it!!! 4) Manolis...He didn't charve anything more for the amenity of the heated pool and he did...Everything we could ask from an owner..Tips,kindness and the feeling you can base on him if anything happens.We travel.a lot and all these things are what you search! The welcome pack was also unexpected. We have never seen anything similar. Thank you much Manolis.We will be back!!

Traum Urlaub in Strandnähe
Ich war mit meinem Freund vom 21. August bis zum 1. September 2022 in diser Villa. Sir befindet sich in mitten eines kleinen Dorfes. 3 verschiedene Lokalitäten kann man von dort zu Fuß schnell erreichen! Der Strand ist lediglich 10 Minuten mit dem Auto, ein Supermarkt 5 Minuten und ein etwas größerer auch nur 10 Minuten mit dem Auto entfernt. Die Villa bietet ausreichend Platz für 2 Personen. Man hat die Möglichkeit dort dazu kochen, Wäsche zu waschen, zu grillen, oder einfach nur entspannen. Im Außenbereich befindet sich ein großer Pool mit mehreren liegemöglichkeiten. Wenn man mit dem Auto anreist, bekommt man einen eigenen Parkplatz im Schatten. Der Besitzer ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wenn man etwas braucht, reicht eine kurze Nachricht und er reagiert, beziehungsweise hilft sofort. Falls man allerdings reine Privatsphäre genießen möchte, kann man das dort auch sehr gut! Niemand stört, wenn man das nicht möchte! Ich kann die Villa wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

We enjoyed our stay and hope to be back there soon
It was just what we wanted, in a small village, but in very short distance to Kolymvari and Chania and to several nice beaches, a wonderful pool and beautiful plants in the garden, shady places to sit and have a glass of wine. Very comfortably, the villa has air condition to help you cool down at night. Most importantly, Manolis was a most friendly and helpful host. I am only disappointed that we could not stay longer, but we hope to be back... next year?

More than expected!!
We had the most wonderful stay at Yiannis Cottage. The house is beautiful & in a perfect location at the traditional village of Spilia close to lots of lovely beaches and taverns.. The pool is salted and we really enjoyed it, we have never stayed into the pool so much.Manolis was so lovely - we have never stayed with such fantastic host before.I would recommend this villa to every couple or small family for relaxing. First think I want to mention is the kindness of Manolis the owner of the villa.He gave us some secret tips of the region and things to do, depending the weather conditions!!When we arrived there were a house welcome pack to wait for us..During our stay he was always available to help us, to give us the best suggestions!!Thank you so much.The villa is so beautiful ,much better than the photos on the site.There is a separate bath which is so helpful.The outdoor area is fantastic.There is a beautiful garden of local plants and a huge for 2 persons eco pool.First time for us to a salted pool.First time I had no red eyes if I stayed for more than 30 minutes Inside. We will definitely come back the soonest we can!!

Fantastic 2 Person Villa in Crete
This was the second time we had stayed in this villa after our first trip in 2018. The villa is perfect for 2 people, with a fabulous garden, encompassing a large pool and 2 seating areas. It is very difficult to find something this good for 2 people, it is almost unique. The villa is in a great location on the Western side of Crete, and is within driving distance of many beaches, including some of Crete's most famous ones. It is situated in the charming village of Spilia and is within walking distance of two good tavernas. The city of Chania with its picturesque harbour is only 30 minutes drive away with Chania airport being another 10 minutes on. The best thing about this villa is the owner, Manolis. He goes out of his way to ensure you have a great holiday, and is there to meet all your needs. He is extremely kind and helpful, without being intrusive. We have travelled to many places across the world and this is the only villa we have stayed in twice which reflects just how much we like it. I know you will too. We hope to return in the future.

We have recently returned from a very happy 9 day stay in the cottage. Fantastic location within walking distance of 2 very good local tavernas & within driving distance of beaches, walks, wineries etc. Great outside space including lovely good sized pool, outside eating areas in both shade & sun. Stand out feature was Manolis himself especially helpful with local tips & answered all our questions plus a very generous delicious food & drink package on arrival which fed us for several meals supplemented by his father’s wonderful vegetable garden, we also loved his gift of honey soaked pastries.We would definitely like to return space permitting & highly recommend ideal for a couple.

Lovely Cottage, amazing owner,grate location
We would like to thank Manos for his help. He organised the car,the Cottage,our transfer to Samaria gorge,the cooking lessons,and more.He gave us the best tips for the region,which only locals know. The Cottage is perfect for a couple,the pool is very big,the outdoor area is much better than the photos. We travel for years ,a lot of times in Crete also. The welcome pack ,Manolis offers is something really different. Generally speaking visiting Yiannis is a grate experience for many reasons. The only problem is that the Cottage is very popular so we have to book very early. We will definitely try to come again.

Lovely Villa with big pool in such a nice location.
We always check the reviews of every property we book. Yiannis Cottage has grate reviews anyway but i will add another one i have to do it because we had a grate experience. The pool is huge for 2 people, maybe it s good for 4 or 5. We enjoyed the time there in front of the grate garden. We could have sun or no if we could be under the trees! The bed is very comfortable, the bath and the separate toilet are fantastic, the kitchen very well equipped. The living room and the outside area are very well decorated and comfortable. The garden was so beautiful we enjoyed the time there beside the pool. The location was perfect to explore the region. We enjoyed the tavern a few meters away, we walked round the village to the big cave , some minutes away. Kolimvari is a nice village where you can find anything you may need, but we passed most of our time in Spilia village. Manolis the owner, is an intelligent man who can give you any information you need, he can solve any problem you may have. We really enjoyed the time with him and we felt very comfortable. We will come back!!

Wonderful little cottage in a special location
This cottage has everything you would ever want for a great holiday. Superb swimming pool. Beautiful garden and the interior was extremely well equipped with excellent air con. Manolis and his family made us so welcome, provided us with more food than we could eat. In particular eggs from hens at the end of our garden and pastries from mother. Spilia is a lovely village, not too far from other good places but with two really good tavernas and a slightly more up market restaurant at the Spilia Village Hotel. Manolis gave us loads of info on places to go. Afrata beach was a wonderful hidden beach that we would never have found if it hadn’t been for advice by Manolis. Will be back next year

Excellent accommodation,amazing host, highly recommend it
We are a couple and we have stayed in many self catering properties in different countries and this was by far the most memorable. We have read the reviews about the hospitall;ity of the owner we always check all the details..It different when you go there. From the minute we walked from the parking area to the Cottage after following Manolis detailed directions until the day we left, we were treated like family. Upon arrival, The house was so well stocked from from a full fridge of milk, cheese (2 different types), bread , butter, eggs from Manolis hens,amazing tomatoes from the garden nearby, bacon, fruits,wine, raki we didn’t need to go out the next day!Moreover the Cottage is full equipped with 2 different very good quality coffee makers for espresso and filtered coffee. How amazing to find this level of attention and care. Manolis is a young and very intelligent man. From the first moment he understood what kind of thing we like so he gave us the best tips for these. We followed his advises and...We would never found all these hidden places..So beautiful , so traditional so unspoiled. I have to mention the big advantage of the location of the Cottage, 2 very good taverns in walking distance, the motorway 5 minutes drive,very close to Kolimvari village for fresh fish etc, close to Chania, close to Falassarna (Manolis insisted to stay there till the sunset, we didn;t manage it but next time), close to Palaiohora and the wonderful beaches there. During our staying Manolis asked us if we need anything , if we have any problem he was always there....And he also broughty us one of the most fantastic cvheese pies (they call it kalitsounos) we have ever tasted...The only bad thing if you rent this Cottage is that you need to leave.....We came back to Germany...But we have already made plans for the next year...
