The rooms are separated from the reception and the parking lot. Must walk 3 blocks. As you enter the building, you feel you are entering a jail and feel terribly insecure. We got locked inside the room and had to trow keys throught the window to someone who can enter and open the door.
If there is no space in the parking lot, must leave the car in the street and the security officer says it is not safe at all

Hello
It is always difficult to respond when the booking cannot be checked to see which apartment is being referred to, however perhaps the guest should read properly. The information clearly states that check in is 200m away. This IS taken from the information on the Expedia site for Backpacker Apartments:
"Check-in takes place at Amakaya Backpackers, 15 Park Lane (200 meters away). Please note that guests planning to arrive after 6 PM must notify the property in advance. Contact details can be found on the booking confirmation."
With regards to being locked in - I am not aware of this and will try to find out what happened, however locks are mechanical and can become faulty. If we know about this, we can have it repaired/replaced.
Regarding safety - I am not sure why the security guard said it is unsafe and I will address it with the building manager. We have been in this location for 5 years with no incident of cars being damaged or broken into. Because our reception and staff are not located on the property we fitted a security gate at the entrance to the apartments to prevent people walking into the Apartments off the street and we have a security gate fitted to the door of each apartment. This we find gives guests peace of mind that they can leave a door open and not have to concern themselves about someone walking in on them off the street.
I find this guest's comments completely unwarrented, especially about the distance from our Reception which is clearly stated.

The pillows were a little worrisome and it was quite noisy on the street outside.

Thanks for your comments. Unless you let me know which Apartment and what date you stayed there is not much I can do to remedy this for future guests.

Hello Mbulelo
Sorry to hear about the breakfast - am checking who worked when you checked in. Did you call our reception regarding this after you checked in. My private mobile number is also posted on the wall in the apartment where you could have contacted me at any time. this should not have been necessary though as the breakfast items should have been in the Apartment when you arrived.
With regards to the parking. There is a light on at night on the parking area and there is a security guard that patrols at night. We have our own cameras that monitors the parking, entrance and stairways. The building owners also has their own camera that covers the parking area.
Since we opened in November 2014 we have not had any break-ins to any of the vehicles and no damage to vehicles. So far we have had no such incidents.
Hope that you enjoyed the rest of your trip.
Regards
