In an attempt to beat all the tourists to Plitvice Lakes, we decided to drive up the night before and stay at the Plitvica Lodge so we would be one of the first to the park when the park opened at 7am. Hotels.com has the hotel listed at the incorrect address (Plitvice Selo 71/3 did not route correctly) so we got lost at 10pm - basically in the middle of nowhere - and thankfully had an international phone plan to call for directions, but roads are not well marked. The room was comfortable and clean but you are definitely paying for location and the prices for everything in the room mini bar reflected this too. Two other disappointments were that you can't get breakfast until 7:30am when the park opens at 7:00am and also that they only accept cash for the room fee. A plus however is that the hotel sells tix to the park so if you bring enough cash, you can buy tickets there and enter one of the park's less busy entrances. Plitvice Lakes is a must see so overall worth the visit!
Park at hotel and short walk to park entrance. Won't need your car again until ready to leave.
Greeted by Karla who was very friendly and gave good advice for viewing park
Drinks and grilled food at night at hotel. Eat outside at picnic table. Plenty of complimentary schnapps from Karla!
Very quiet and secluded.
Will stay here again.
Not very friendly check in, would not accept credit card as form of payment, as not many restaurants around, dinner and breakfast were very expensive !!!
This charming small lodge offers convenience to one of the best entrances to the park, clean rooms, excellent food, and a friendly, helpful staff.
It is, however, difficult to find because it is not on the main road through the park, but on the opposite side. The only sign for the hotel is fifty yards from the entrance after driving some 5-6 kilometers down a windy park road. We had to stop twice to ask directions and then call the lodge for specfics. Once we got there we were very pleased, but we almost abandoned the hunt and forfeited our downpayment. The only people who arrived without problems had navigation systems in their cars.
The Expedia site noted that we would pay for our stay once we arrived. We were not informed that the Lodge did not take credit cards. The nearest ATM was perhaps a dozen miles away. We were lucky that we had enough cash with us to cover the cost of the lodge, the meals, and the wine, but it nearly wiped out the cash supply we were saving for other needs.
The first thing that you will notice about this hotel is that it is difficult to find. The hotel is very close to the Plitvice Lake national park which makes getting to it slightly difficult. While hotels.com says it is in Plitvice Jezera it is actually in Plitvice Selo. We recommend that you print off how to get to the hotel prior to going there as the GPS won't be helpful.
But do not worry because Karlo is waiting for you with a big smile and a bottle of Schnapps. Once you find the hotel you will be greeted by a very nice and friendly Karlo who will show you the best route to walk the Lakes and then give you one or more shots of homemade Schnapps.
The two building complex is two years old, well decorated, well furnished. The rooms are decent in size, well furnished with a very comfortable bed and good AC if needed. We had a ground floor balcony with a view to the forest. In the back of the hotel is the outdoor dining area, with an outdoor wood stove/ grill and another small outdoor fireplace. From our experience the dinner had two options, a fish or meat. Both were excellent. Service was great. And Karlo made sure the Schnapps kept flowing!
Breakfast was made of eggs with or without ham, bread, coffee or tea, spreads, yogurt, cereals and a plate of cured meats and cheese. Dinner was 20 Euros without drinks and breakfast was 8 euros. Both were well worth it.
We stayed in the second building and unfortunately had bad wifi connection.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Overpriced and tries to trick your money
We stayed at this place and also another similar hotel in Plitvice because the other one was totally booked for one night. I have to say, this place is a disappointment.
Couple things - as soon as we arrived, the hotel owner said to come down for dinner. He deliberately failed to mention that it costs 20 euros per person. The meal, on the other hand, is definitely not worth 20 euros. It's some dry steak with vegetables that made you feel you were on a United flight.
No one helped us with luggage, and breakfast was some basic bagels and croissants, and that's 8 euros per person. We learned the lesson from the night so we didn't order. Instead, we asked for hot water. He refused. Really? We wanted to cook some instant noodles for hot water and he said he had to charge us for breakfast if he were to provide us with hot water.
Lastly, when we check out, we were told that he doesn't accept credit card. Okay there is no ATM on the premise. When we said we wanted to pay US dollars, he over charged us $20 for commission fees.
So, a fair warning, don't come to this place. At the least if you have to come because you have no other choice, be prepared (have dinner, bring your breakfast, and enough kunas). If you are thinking about this place because of its location, don't. There are ample parking outside of the hostel. You could totally stay at a much better hotel just 2km away and save you a lot of money and headache arguing with the owner.
Not remotely a four star hotel.
Lovely remote setting with great access to Plitvice Lakes. Remote location means that without a car you will need to catch bus to Entrace 1 and get a taxi to hotel, this could cost 150-200 Kuna. Also this limits the options for eating, there are some place in park that open to 22:00, and these offer a good value options for eating. Hotel also offered a grill option (mixed meat or fish) for Euro 20 / person. Breakfast option available for Euro 8 / person. Expedia should make it clearer that the payment of the hotel is not only to be made locally, but this needs to be in cash in either Euro or Kuna, they do not accept credit cards. Therefore if you arrive without the means to pay in cash you may then need to find a way of getting cash, and I personally never saw an ATM around the park, but they have money exchange facility if you say had £.
The location could not have been better. However I visited some of the other hotels nearby and this one was clearly priced for more and offered less than some of its competitors. Also, we had a last minute scramble where we had to drive 25 minutes to a cash machine because the proprietor does not take credit cards.
Place is great but make sure you have cash because they do not take credit card and the nearest ATM is quite far. Very cute and the owner is very friendly.
it was very close to the park just a 10 minutes away, and also owner is very friendly which made the lodge quite comfortable. kids played with their dog, Bingo which was also fun.
