Splendid autumn 2024

A fine chalet, comfortable, well equipped, cosy, and with splendid views over the Plymouth Sound, every time of the day and with each type of wheather. It is lovely to wake up and hear nothing but the sound of the waves. We made several walks on the beautiful coast path and visited Cotehele, Drogo, Compton, Saltram. Plymouth and Exeter we found less interesting. Shirley was very adequate when we told her that the towel radiator in the bathroom was not working. She managed to get it repaired in 3 days (including weekend) and sent us a big bag with extra towels. During our stay the cafe was only open on fridays, saturdays and sundays. But that is understandable because there were very few inhabitants on the park.

Our stay at Bovisan

However, we had to pay parking fees besides the rent. And the streets were very very narrow.
But the view over the sea was gorgeus

Publié le 11 août 2024 sur HomeAwayJust returned from a lovely holiday at Bovisand. The views across Plymouth sound were amazing and the kids had a great time. Everything was just as described and our hosts were everything you could ask for. I only had very minor issues. The first being the road into the estate is not for the faint hearted, very narrow single track road with limited visibilty. Had a couple of near misses with drivers driving too fast. The only other issue was a lack of facilities for young kids. They loved exploring but maybe a small playpark at the site wouldn't go amiss.(i appreciate this isn't controlles by the hoats). Overall though, a wonderful break at a lovely chalet which I would recommend.

Unfortunately the approach lane is the same as the majority in rural South Devon, single width and having to use passing places if you meet oncoming traffic. !We are sorry you experienced some drivers driving a bit fast, if you live around there and are used to these lanes, it sometimes has the effect of making some drivers too confident!
The lack of a playpark is probably because the estate chalets are all individually owned , often by families who have had them for generations, and the beaches within its gates are technically private to the estate so extra facilities for children (, which practically would have to include daily general public visitors whose families aren' staying there ) would make it difficult to keep the “ private “ aspect of the estate as outside visitors can use the beaches and cliffs on a temporary daily basis (but are not allowed to park overnight. )So is traditional there amongst the chalet owners for the beaches to be seen as the childrens entertainment facility, with rockpools to explore , sea glass to collect and sandcastles to build, etc. A playpark would also, of course, involve more complicated health and safety issues, extra public liability insurance , etc which individual chalet owners wouldnt necessarily want to get involved in or finance.!
I hope this didn't spoil your childrens holiday and hope I have explained why this is lacking on the site.

Häuschen mit toller Aussicht
Publié le 20 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayWir hatten einen sehr schönen, ruhigen Aufenthalt mit toller Aussicht auf die Bucht. Das schön renovierte Häuschen war sehr gut ausgestattet, sauber und hatte bequeme Betten. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Best Holiday
Publié le 4 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayWe have just had a wonderful holiday at Bovisand. The chalet is so comfortable, well equipped, and the view!!! Lovely cove beaches, coastal walks and great places to eat. Everything we wanted in a holiday.

Relaxing Break

Peaceful, relaxed atmosphere, with the opportunity for coastal walks as well as to the beach and surrounding areas. Lovely cafe on the estate and close enough to local shops for provisions. Two lovely pubs in the local village, 5
minute drive away or within walking distance. A very comfortable and well equipped chalet. We would definitely recommend if you are looking for a relaxing break. We would definitely visit again.
