Paradise in Port Douglas

Not quite as we expected

While the beds were comfortable and outdoor space and pool were nice, there were many issues with the property which made our stay not as good as we had expected. Brian was good with communications but there seemed a lack of upkeep and general cleanliness with athe property. Many appliances were suboptimal from the microwave only working in 15 sec bursts, fridge freezing some of our food, cooktop not completely functional , and the washing machine did not work at all. The TV is not large at all as described on the listing but worked OK. The property needs a good overhaul to bring it up to scratch. Only 2 tea bags found in a cupboard for 4 of us for a week and no shampoo and conditioner (we assumed as with other homes there would be some) and only 4 rolls of toilet paper. Some electrical issues were the result of heavy rain it seems. Despite the issues, Brian was being helpful and we enjoyed our time in Cairns overall.

Unfortunately most of Eddas’s review is inaccurate.The washing machine works fine but there is a little trick to get it started which I explained to Edda.The microwave works normally so I’m not sure why she couldn’t work it.There is currently one of the 5 burners on the gas cooktop not working.The rest is things Edda continually picked on to demand a part refund.As a holiday home we don’t supply unlimited kitchen staples and toiletries and the house is not brand new which is reflected in our nightly rate.We sincerely hope Edda comes back to visit Port Douglas but think best suited to staying in a hotel.

Great 10 day vacation
