"They're nice buckets!"
Publié le 10 nov. 2024 sur HomeAwayProperty was nice and as described, but the first red flag was the repeated calls from the hose before arrival to make sure they were there to greet us for checkin. One call, sure, but they were at 3 or 4 before we even got there.
The first morning, we discovered the toilet wouldn't flush. We alerted the host, they said they'd get a plumber while we were out, still no big deal for us.
We get the call that the toilet is fixed, great.
We get back to the rental and the toilet still doesn't flush. We alert the host around 6pm, host says they'll call a plumber again and provides us with buckets (which she filled and we appreciated) for dumping water into the toilet to force a flush, indicating to us that this is not their first time dealing with this problem and that this solution was known to work. Suboptimal for 4 people and 1 toilet.
They tell us that a plumber is going to return the same night, which we were fine with. Host lingers, asking us personal details to tell to her grandchild, etc. Not inappropriate in content, just, like, an unreasonable amount of contact with hosts when we've expressed that we want to be left alone to our trip.
The host returns, this time letting herself in, citing knowing that my wife is asleep as her reason for not knocking or ringing the doorbell.
Plumber comes, we go to bed.
Second morning, toilet still isn't working. At this point, we've started just using public bathrooms. Wildly inconvenient.

This review is a series of claims, some lies, some just weird, designed to support the phone call made by the guest to VRBO to demand his money back. We've rented through VRBO for 14 years, and have never had a single guest--until now--about whom we have said that we would not rent to them again. The two phone calls I made to be of assistance to them became a "red flag." A working toilet that had never failed to flush broke, then got fixed, then broke, then got fixed, then broke again, and they said "We don't want you or your plumber around." [Read: We're making a case to demand our money back.] In the end, VRBO told us we did all that we could do, and it was up to us. We gave them their three free nights. Oh well, we hope to put this awful case behind us and go back to serving good people.

Super location in quaint Portland neighborhood

Hosts are friendly, accomodating and even had fresh fruit, cheese and lovely bread in the unit when we arrived, along with staples such as coffee, milk and cereal. We enjoyed are stay and conversations very much!

They left us some food items so we wouldn't have to go immediately to the store -- they left milk, eggs, fruit, coffee and some other basic items. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space for several people. The backyard was a great place to hangout. We will be coming back to stay.

The owners were lovely, the home was well cared for, and the location was quiet but close to so many things. We are so happy this place was a part of our family trip down the NW. Highly recommended.

Lovely Location & Hosts

The hosts are delightful and provided a stocked kitchen with starter food items that would work for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We loved our time here!
