When we told a local business owner that we had rented the Barn, he said, “You’re at the best place to stay on Skye.” We couldn’t agree more.
The location of the Barn is idyllic - on a hill overlooking the water, the Trotternish mountains, a waterfall, and a vale filled with sheep. We were only 15 minutes from Portree, where we shopped for groceries (and which has plenty of restaurants and other attractions). The Old Man of Storm, Kilt Falls, the Lealt viewpoint, Brothers’ Point hike (the trailhead is right outside the Barn), An Corran beach (with its dinosaur print), and the stunning Quirang hills were all nearby. Truly an incredible location.
The Barn itself was outstanding, with a well stocked kitchen, terrific beds, two great bathrooms - and a bottle of wine waiting for us when we arrived. My favorite activity, in fact, was simply sitting out front each evening, gazing at the view, as the sun slowly set.
Simply put, our three nights on Skye were the peak of our 10-day trip to Scotland - and staying at the Barn was a key part of that.
