I think with this property, you have to understand that it is a Ecolodge, so you should adjust your expectations. Overall, I was impressed with the location as it provided a very nice view of the Puerto Plata region and it was not too far from it. That said, there’s much that could be done to make this a desired lodging destination for my next trip. For example, I expected to pay a certain price, but with all the other charges added to pay using a credit card, I ended paying way more than I expected. Also, I had read that having dinner there would be an experience, but we were charged $15 USD a person for a pasta and sauce dinner (nothing special), and same with breakfast, which is not included, but you’re almost force to eat there because there isn’t anything near for breakfast. I didn't mind paying for breakfast or dinner, but when you’re in an Ecolodge in the Dominican Republic, you expect to pay reasonable prices, not European prices. On top of that, I would definitely incorporate the Dominican culture into what it is provided, breakfast was nothing but a normal continental breakfast, I expected some mangu, avocados, local fruits, etc. Again, overall the location and service of the Ecolodge is great, but closed attention should be paid to what is advertised in Expedia as a price and what you’ll actually pay, and don’t expect this Ecolodge to be the ecotourism destination expected of other ecotourism destinations.
