My girlfriend and I, on a 16 day road trip in Quintana Roo, decided to spend New Years at Villas Roseliz in Punta Allen. A quiet, oceanside village at the end of a 50 km gravel road in the Sian Ka’an biosphere south of Tulum. The drive out, once past the parks entrance, is a rough gravel road. It had rained recently and there were lots of big puddles but the road is hard packed and we easily made the drive in our rented Chevy Beat. It was a very enjoyable couple days that had us considering abandoning our remaining itinerary and spending the rest of our vacation time there. The owners (David and Roseliz), their son and staff are friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms and property clean and inviting. Comfy beds. Plenty of hot water. Great water pressure. Good wifi that worked best if sitting out in the courtyard. A double kayak to use. Great little beach for swimming and lounging. Coffee and meals upon request. Plenty of restaurants in close walking distance. Beach chairs. Fantastic sunrises.
The entire towns power grid shuts off at night and during siesta time but the place is right on the beach and the breeze off the ocean blew through our room keeping it cool enough to be comfortable at night. The sound of the waves also comforting. Their dogs were entertaining too. We would love to visit again sometime. There are boat tours out to the reef for snorkeling, or to see the Manatees easily made right there. A perfect getaway.
