Best Bachelor Trip
We stayed here for a bachelor trip and it was amazing. The stay was very relaxing and peaceful. We spent the days fishing and hanging out by the lake while watching all the wildlife. We caught enough fish to make everyone happy. The cabin is very secluded but also close enough to the ozarks that we were able to go golfing and have a night out. Everything about this place was better than advertised and the steaks were amazing. We will definitely be back!!

We had one of the best vacations we've taken! The site was better than advertised. We had car trouble on the way down and were delayed in arriving. Extended weekend getaway
My wife and I stayed for an extended weekend arriving Friday evening and leaving Monday morning. Everything about this getaway was amazing. Wonderful cabin, location, private lake, and so many amenities including paddle boat and small fishing boat with trolley motor. The extras such as firewood, charcoal, and all the other things you would normally have to buy were included! I would recommend this property to anyone and hope to go back in the summer!

Just WOW!!
I wish I didn’t have to write a review because I’d rather keep this best kept secret to ourselves. This property was beyond our expectations. The pictures online don’t do it justice. If you’re looking for peace and serenity and to disconnect this is the place for you. Cindy and Johnny were fantastic hosts. The cabin has everything you need and if they don’t then you don’t need it. Lol!! Our only regret is that we didn’t book it for longer. We fished, kayaked, paddle boated, hung out by the fire pit making s’mores (provided by Johnny and Cindy) & enjoyed the hot tub nightly. The outdoor shower was amazing in the cool mornings. It was an exhilarating way to start the day. Also, enjoyed several steaks that came from cattle raised on the farm. We even grabbed some steaks for the road to enjoy at our home!! Again, I can’t say enough!! Loved it!!

A perfect cabin getaway
My 15 year old son, 12 year old daughter and I stayed at this property for 5 days. I was a little worried about my teenagers being bored but that never happened. The cabin has every amenity you could need - it is clean, comfortable and very charming. The hot tub on rainy days was really nice. The lake was fabulous! Gorgeous and secluded. Kayaks, paddle boat and a small fishing boat were all provided. We were in or on the water every day and the fishing was unbelievable. The wildlife was abundant - squirrels, chipmunks, turtles, frogs, snakes (only 1), birds, and deer. Town is close and convenient if you need it. The hosts were easy to talk to and extremely helpful. They left a s’mores package and some candy for the kids. I highly recommend this property for anyone needing a visit to the lake!

This cabin is a wonderfully serene getaway. Beautiful landscape, and porch made for reading and relaxing. Used the hot tub nightly and took several long soaks in the inside tub with a good book. Hosts are wonderful and provided s’more fixings for the firepit. I would return n a minute, we had such a great time.

Wonderfully private and serene retreat!
My husband and I had a wonderful time unplugging at this place!! The property is so beautiful and secluded, it is a perfect place to unplug from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The owners were very kind and had the delicious hamburger meat and steaks we had bought from them ahead of time, thawing in the sink for us. They also included hamburger buns and snacks for us upon arrival! It was clean and well appointed. It was warmer when we visited, so the only shower being outdoors, was not a problem at all. The hot tub over looks the huge beautiful private pond, which we enjoyed after a day of fishing. We would definitely recommend this place and most definitely be back!

Total seclusion from City Life.
Absolutely loved and adored the cabin and it's total scenery vibe. This is what we've been looking for for a long time, total seclusion and privacy. Thoroughly enjoyed and got total use out of the 13 acre private Lake. We loved and enjoyed trolling around the lake in the boat, we also use the Pontoon paddle boat that was a very great experience very cool. We enjoyed watching the woodpeckers, even saw about four or five deer. Just overall enjoyed listening to the sounds and all the wildlife and total nature that this property had to offer. Would highly recommend it for other people. We got lots of use out of the fire throughout our entire stay there. Very nice ambiance in the evening time. The jacuzzi was very nice and relaxing after a good day of hiking and just overall relaxation. The outdoor shower was awesome what a great experience taking a shower in the open air. I believe that the cabin should have had a little bit more cabinet space for our food. We thoroughly enjoyed haha Tonka State Park what a great and awesome hike and experience that was. Would highly recommend that while you are there. Overall it was an awesome and great stay we thoroughly enjoyed it, we would come back again. Would like to thank Cindy and Johnny for all the accommodations that they made for us.

A little slice of heaven!
We had an amazing stay! The property was everything that was promised... Very private, quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and fun! The owners made sure our stay was comfortable and even left a little treat basket for making s'mores. Even though the property is close to everything including restaurants, parks, sites, etc., We found we didn't even want to leave the property. Everyday we had a blast swimming in the lake, hot tubbing, going out on the super fun pedal boat, kayaking, enjoying drinks on the dock watching the sunset, and relaxing on the covered deck with ceiling fans! We truly had an awesome and relaxing stay here and look forward to coming back again soon! Highly recommend!!!

This is our second stay here and we absolutely love it!! The house has everything you need. Very clean. Has all the supplies in the kitchen. We used the kayaks, fishing boat and paddleboat. The fishing is great!! You literally have your own private lake. Hot tub is nice at the end of the day. Love the outdoor shower!! We will definitely be back again!!!!

If you want seclusion, this is for you!
The cabin and property were everything we hoped it would be and more! We were looking for a secluded cabin on a lake and we found it here! It was so peaceful and perfect! It has a lot of outdoor space to enjoy. We enjoyed every bit of it…the fire pit (thanks, Cindy for the s’mores!), the kayaks, the boats, the hot tub, the porch, the sound of the waterfall, etc. Our boys had so much fun fishing! We even heard the whippoorwills and saw some eagles. The cabin was very clean. The kitchen had everything you could think of. This was one of the nicest cabins we’ve stayed in!

Country Getaway Near the Ozarks
My husband and I enjoyed my birthday here. The cabin was nice, the view was beautiful, and the beef you can purchase from the owners was delicious. You definitely get the privacy of a country getaway, but then you're just a drive away from all of the Ozark amenities and sites.

Peaceful Retreat
My friends and I wanted a lowkey, but fun weekend away. It was a 2-year delayed bachelorette trip. Our plan was to relax, talk, cook and enjoy some peace in nature—and that's exactly what this cabin provides. The couple who owns the large property is very kind, and if you haven't meal planned they have the hook up on Missouri beef. There is plenty of outdoor seating and space, so plan to take advantage of that. We recommend this property and hope to return!

Absolutely amazing place to stay!!! Perfect for a family of 4!!!
The first thing I want to say about this place is that as nice as the pictures are online, they simply cannot display the absolute beauty and privacy of the property that you get being there in person. As we drove down the long winding road to our cabin, we were stunned at how big the lake was and how private the cabin was. Cindy and Johnny were the best hosts you could ask for and were a true pleasure to deal with. My kids spent hours and hours on the paddleboat and kayaks everyday. We also used the fishing boat quite a bit and caught some bluegill and largemouth bass. The hot tub and fireplace are in the perfect spots overlooking the lake. We went horseback riding only 10 minutes away and also spent time at the Ha Ha Tonka State Park which was only 20 minutes away. We planned to spend a day in Branson, but after a unanimous vote, we opted to stay at the cabin and enjoy our private lake instead. We bought some of their steaks and burger meat and it was waiting in the fridge when we arrived. The steaks and burgers were delicious!! We are already trying to decide when to come back again and will definitely be purchasing more meat when we do. This place is amazing!!!

Jonny and Cindy - owners, were great and the cabin and amenities were all in great shape, well maintained and very easy to access and use. Beautiful Getaway
From the entry gates all the way back to the cabin, the property is a dream. We were greeted by the owner when we arrived and were walked through everything that was available. The gorgeous cabin is well sealed from the outdoors if you just want the views but not the bugs and weather to go with it. The lake is amazing to wake up to in the morning. We got out there and easily caught enough fish for dinner that night. You could spend days just walking the property, paddling around the lake, grilling, and hanging by the fire pit at night, but if you want a little more, the Ha Ha Tonka state park and Lake of the Ozarks is about 20 minutes down the road. Inside, the cabin is stocked with just about anything you could need (every kitchen utensil and appliance you can think of, 2 tvs, dvds, satellite, an atari game system), and the owner even threw in some extras (charcoal and lighter fluid, smores, a bag of candy, some cookies, grill bags for veges) It's been said in other posts, but I will echo the sentiment. GET SOME OF THE BEEF! We bought 4 large t-bones and they threw in 2lbs of ground beef at no charge. It was all delicious. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at Hix Lake and Cabin. I have a few notes below only to inform anyone that plans to book. I really hope these small inconveniences do not sway you away from one of the best vacations you'll have. The only reason we have a 4 instead of 5 on the accuracy of the listing, was because the outdoor shower's plumbing was still frozen and was not available during our stay (3/19 - 3/23). More a consequence of the timing of our stay than anything else, but it should be noted if you plan to book around spring. We were only able to use the bathtub inside to wash up. We did have a problem with the sprayer head (which I'm sure the owner would have addressed) but we just gave it a good clean out in the sink and it sprayed just fine after that. There is only one room that will give you privacy so it's perfect for a small family, but if you plan on going with friends just know only one room has doors that close. The bedroom upstairs is a loft open to the rest of the cabin. Lastly, the benches at the kitchen table can take some getting used to lol. We brought our kids and my mom along, and we each took a turn at either falling off the wobbly one or running a foot into one of them. All in all, these were all very minor, and we easily adjusted. We will definitely be going back!

Simply amazing!
I can not say enough good things about this stay. I am so so thankful my husband and I spent this time alone and in this beautiful secluded place! This property has so much to offer, it is exactly as described and could not be more perfect. The kayaks were so fun and caught fish, we relaxed in the hot tub, enjoyed it absolute silence of the area. You can not go wrong with this if you are looking to relax and unwind!

Great Weekend Getaway
Really nice time at this property- it was perfectly quaint. We had one great fishing day (bluegill and a couple channel catfish). Not a lot to do around but we went there for that reason! Great hosts
