Bel endroit mais avec des contraintes
Publié le 31 janv. 2024 sur HotelsLocalisé dans un très bel endroit à flan de colline avec une très belle vue. Par contre un peu isolé, et il n'y a pas de cuisine dans la guest house.
Pour le check-in, nous n'avons reçu aucune information, et nous avons dû appeler pour avoir le numéro de la chambre et le code pour récupérer la clé.
En hiver, la voie d'accès étant pas mal enneigée, ça peut poser problème à certains véhicules.
Concernant la chambre, elle est jolie, propre et très comfortable. Manque quand même de quoi poser les bagages. La télé connectée était un plus. L'isolation phonique avec les voisins était bonne. Par contre le balcon est commun, ce qui signifie que les autres hôtes passent devant les fenêtres de la chambre.
NB: l'éclairage du balcon est très cosy quand on arrive, mais un peu gênant le soir pour regarder le ciel.

The location of this place is great as it's close to Jokulsarlon and Diamond beach. Decoration is very tasteful and the room is comfortable.
It could use a table though and a bit more lighting in the bathroom.
I was quite surprised that there was no information card whatsoever in the room. It felt quite cold upon arrival, especially since it was mentioned in the confirmation email that they gave recommendations for food nearby. There was no such info on the 2 booking sites I looked at or the confirmation emails.
The self check in was fine. A card with some sort of info and a word of welcome would have been nice.
Other guests felt the same and were quite surprised with the tone of the response they got from the host when asking a simple question about a kitchen. (There is a kitchen but it's not a shared one. It belongs to one of the rooms.)

I however, must, say I am a little surprised to see the quote of our responce - This cannot be from our staff and if it is - I apologise - neither the tone, nor the information (this info is incorrect) - Our normal reply would be that we do not have a kichen available nor advertise it - the one in the house is a part of a private residence - not part of the accommodation for rent. If a mistake was made, we are sorry. We take great pride in our guets relations and feel very sorry that this is how you experienced it. Les clefs de la chambre sont dans une key box, aucun accueil, aucun service. Aucun petit dejeuner ni aucune facilité pour le diner sachant que la chambre se trouve au milieu de nulle part, et les propriétaires n'avaient absolument pas avertis. Le fait de ne pas voir les propriétaires donnent vraiment l'impression suivante: payez votre chambre et ne nous embêtez surtout pas. Je retournerai pas.

Note there isn’t a kitchen! Not sure why the photos make it seem this way but there is only a small fridge, coffee/tea, and a water heater. We LOVED the room though! Beautiful space with nice bathroom and comfortable/clean bed. The area around the property is stunning and so, so close to activities! We loved the easy drive to the glaciers and lagoon as well as Diamond Beach. We also had a nice waterfall directly behind the hotel which we loved. Definitely limited for food options though so be mindful! A couple restaurants close by but hours can be limited!

Self check-in property, easy and clear instructions were given. I had a superior room with view on mountains. It's was outstanding. Although the room is brand new and well decorated, you know someone thought of design first and less of customer experience. Location was excellent and away enough from the ring road so you get all the peace and quiet.
No closet, poor lighting, no working table...parking is unclear since you feel like you're driving in someone's driveway. But hey when you spend that much on a room, expectations are a little higher!

Had a slight mixup with the room while checking in but it was my mistake I went to the wrong property. Once that got sorted out everything was excellent.

This property was very clean and modern updates. Lots of amenities. We had dinner at the hotel (sister property) and it was really expensive but absolutely delicious! There were some refreshments in the fridge but I wasn't sure if they were free so we didn't drink them. Probably the best nights sleep I've had this whole trip!
