Horrible customer service
Publié le 19 avr. 2023 sur HotelsI reserved a houseboat. When I arrived I was presented with a Cabin Cruiser. It was not accessible for my dog. They would not provide different accommodations or refund my money. Extremely dissatisfied. I will never use Hotels.com again or VRBO since you have partnered with them. So disappointed in your lack of customer service. I ended up having to sleep in my car that night during a storm after arguing for 3 hours with customer service. When you are not provided what was advertised that is called bait and switch. I have put this on various social media outlets and many people have also expressed similar situations and thanked me for sharing. You won’t care, but you have lost business.

So how does a host respond to such a vile post without sounding like the very dishonest person who posted this review. S before I begin to respond please understand that this ugly post is all about the fact that I would not return a one night booking fee and that her dog does not (or will not) climb stairs! The facts are: I did book the houseboat for this lady but earlier on, on the day of her arrival she was notified that there was a maintenance issue and that I would need to transfer her to the Cookie B which is 40 feet from the houseboat. It is also what I am required to do by Expedia. And to make it very clear, the Cookie B IS NOT a cabin cruiser!! It is a 43' Hatteras yacht with a queen gel/memory foam mattress and also a twin memory foamed mattress and also a full sleeper sofa. Her response to my message concerning the Cookie B was "looks good".I also offered to meet her at the marina so as to show her how things worked, but she declined my offer saying she was an "independent woman".I should also say that HER REASON EXPRESSED TO EXPEDIA AND TO HOTELS.COM FOR NOT STAYING ABOARD WAS THAT HER DOG WOULD or COULD NOT DO STEPS!!!This marina has multiple steps leading to either boat from a hillside, and of course there are steps inside of both boats as well, so there was nothing I could possibly do about this situation. Also, I do not rent to dogs or any other pets. However, I do allow owners to bring their pets and WITHOUTCHARGING AN EXTRA FEE UNLIKE MOST LISTINGS!As for sleeping in her car, that was a ridiculous choice. The lights were on and the heat was also on.And even though I try to believe most of what I hear, I find this statement to be doubtful.I sent a lengthy message to Expedia explaining this situation and I am appalled that they allowed this awful post to be published, especially since I have with Expedia a 4.94 star review average over an 8 year period of time. And in addition to this rating anyone can find 4.9 star review averages over this same period of time on the other two major booking sites, Airbnb and VRBO.On one site I am and have always been a Superhost, and on the other I am a Preferred Host. Also, just so any reader will know: Slanderous reviews are how hosts are threatened when a dishonest bully "guests" is rebuffed, especially when it concerns a monetary refund. It seems there is no limit to what some people will say if they believe an outcome will be in their favor. As anyone can tell by this post I do not like getting a bad review or having to spend my time answering one either. But if this is what it takes to hopefully stop these dishonest people from trying to manipulate me or this system, then that is just the price I will pay.So read my latest reviews on this or those other two websites, then come to the Cookie B or the GiaMariaand have one of the best little vacays of your life. And I might ad, at a price that will not break the bank.Thank you all for reading my response.

Love Boat
Publié le 5 mars 2023 sur HotelsSo much fun!! Excellent host! Very informative. Loved the privacy and being on the water. The bed was super comfortable and the fireplace (electric) kept us warm and cozy. It was such a unique thing to do and we will be back!

Staying on a boat was definitly different from staying in the same old boring hotel. We fished, woke up to beautiful views of the James River and Captain Ron is amazing! We loved hearing his stories and enjoyed him sharing them with us. It was just a relaxing, peaceful getaway from our busy lives in the city! Cant wait to go back!

We really enjoyed our stay on a real house boat. Very clean place. The owner is very friendly. The fishing was awesome. My wife and I caught about six nice sized Catfish!

If all the world were filled with people like Mary and Mike we could throw away our keys. I so very much enjoyed having this couple aboard.

Unique and wonderful experience
Publié le 11 nov. 2017 sur ExpediaA very relaxing and beautiful stay. Ron was very sweet and accommodating. The boat was perfect for a getaway from crazy city life. The marina is rustic and especially beautiful at night. We booked this for an event downtown and was easy to get to and from as well. Perfect setting on the river and for anyone who’s looking to getaway from all the city madness this is perfect especially if you like fishing. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway in the Richmond area.

Great experience on the James River
Publié le 12 mai 2017 sur HotelsThe property is an entire boat, with kitchen and bathroom. Very nicely renovated. Great location between Richmond and Williamsburg. Very friendly reception by operator, who provided accurate and helpful tips. We were sorry that we could stay only one night, we would have loved to stay longer. Near presumed site of Pocahontas' village and near Civil War fortifications.
