A slice of heaven

A place that lived up to the pictures! The backyard was amazing. A great pool with a swim up bar, a beautiful fountain, plenty of space to relax and hang out with the iguanas. It was a very short walk to an isolated beach. The inside was spacious, a large kitchen, big dining and living rooms. Stu was a great host. I give this place my highest recommendation.

An amazing stay in a beautiful beach villa in Rincon

Our party of 4 adults and 2 children stayed in the villa for 6 nights in October to mark my husband's 50th birthday. We started each day by walking a few steps along the canal to a very beautiful beach and swimming in the warm ocean. The beach is sandy, with no rocks and had hardly any other people on it - just the way we like it. Both the adults and the children loved the waves! We enjoyed watching the pelicans dive into the water to catch fish. Later on we spent time in the beautiful pool area; the whole backyard is lovely. For dinner we either went out or used the barbecue to cook our dinner. It was great to be able to walk along the beach to get to the town centre. There are several good restaurants a short drive away. The villa itself is very spacious and well appointed. Both the living/dining areas and the bedrooms worked great for us. Highlights: the location on the beach; swimming in the ocean and fantastic sunsets on the beach; the pool; watching wildlife - both on the beach and in the backyard; the weekly Art Walk in town centre. Overall, an amazing stay in the beautiful Rincon!

Nice accommodation

Friends and I enjoyed our week at Casa Canal. Stu the property manager was very responsive and house was tidy- two negatives- the house reeked of smoke which was very unpleasant. The pool area lacked any comfortable seating. The gate was also broken the entire week, so for 4 women in our 60s opening and closing a steel gate threw a few backs out.i guess that’s three negatives

Thanks Jill for your input, Funny you smelled smoke because we clean with a very fragrant Lavender floor product, we don't allow smoking in the house, only outside but not all of our guests follow the house rules, it may have been a new smell from the air unit we will just installed, we will check it out. Sorry about the main gate, the track broke & now it's out of order but the back service gate is functioning, we are trying to have it repaired but in Rincon being a resort town, it's hard to get things done fast, we hope to get it repaired this week. As far as the deck seating we have the 2 sun pads & we took away the lounge chairs because guests ruined them by taking them down to the beach, we will be added a few new ones in the near future. We're glad you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure & we're forward to your return visit in the near future.

Great location, great beach, good house

The location is perfect with quick access to the beach and a nice pool and swim up bar. Excellent views from the balcony on all sides. Overall, the house is in good shape and the owner, Stu, is very personable. A few things I wish I knew ahead of time: - You have to pay him directly through PayPal after the first payment on VRBO. - The hot water heater is really small and they expect you to not keep it on so showers are a little rough. - You can't run all the room ACs at once or it will stop working, which is tough while sleeping. - There are a lot of rules with threats of daily charges or removal if not followed. - You have to pay for cleaning midway through, even though the rules require daily sweeping and cleaning. - The master bathroom window doesn't close so it's very muggy in there.

Hi Lauren & family, We're glad you had a great time, sorry for the inconveniences during your stay & your input. Rincon has very poor electricity, the appliances & air units are always giving us trouble. After your stay we had a electrician check out our system because we had a breaker problem, that's why I asked you not to run all the air units all day long when you not in the rooms. The reason we only let VRBO handle our deposit is that they charge us large fees & hold our funds for 12+ days, we have been handling our own vacation rentals for 35 years & have used the same system but the VRBO, Airbnb, etc... sites now want to handle the payments & charge the guest & myself fees that we never charged, they take 18-20% from the guest at booking. The hot water heater is under the stairs in a cabinet & unfortunately we cannot get a bigger one, & because of the high energy cost we experience here in Puerto Rico we ask you to turn the heater on 15 minutes before you need it & turn it off when you don't, however we do the 2 outside showers that do not need a hot water heater. The reasons we have our rules & procedures is that these are items that our guests constantly violate so we state it in advance. The reason we require cleaning mid stay & require the guest to pay the housekeeper direct, is that when we offered free housekeeping guests took advantage of that meaning & did nothing in the house & left it all to the housekeeper, sometimes it would take her 3 hours just to do the kitchen , when the house is kept clean the cleaning usually takes 1-2 hours max. Because of our popularity of being one of the most sought after beachfront Villas in Rincon, we usually only have a 5 hour window between stays so having the Villa cleaned mid stay helps us keep the Villa in good shape for the next guest coming in. The master bath window is cracked open & isn't operating because we have fixed it so many times & guests over crank the window & break it anyway so we have it set so no one can play with it.. All these items are sent to you at time of booking along with your contract, then again 72 hours before check in. The problem is guests never read the info or take it seriously. It was pleasure having you & look forward to your return visit in the near future !! Stu, Carmen, Kohl & Tatiana !!

Had a great time on my 20th anniversary with my spouse and family! The house was as expected and Stu was so great with communication and assisting with questions during our stay. Would love to do it again!!

Great location/ beach house

The house was great for 3 couples. Plenty of space and a beautiful pool. The grill needed to be replaced and there was a broken door handle, but otherwise it was perfect for our group. We enjoyed seeing all the iguanas. The beach was easily accessed.

This property was gorgeous, primely located and as advertised. Excellent space for my family of six and communication with the owner was seamless. An amazing value and a fantastic property.

Location was perfect - minutes down the beach to restaurants, town square - minutes to bakery, grocery store, food trucks. Stu, house manager, was great to work with. He had great recommendations for local sites.

Exploring Rincon

My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Casa Canal! It was everything we imagined. A villa enjoyed by all ages. My 9 year was very excited for the pool! Stu met us for our check in day and he walked us through everything including showing us all the rooms. Location is great and so private. Love how the beach is just walks away. It truly was a relaxing stay. Thanks again for your hospitality and will most like stay here again!! Already have friends asking for contacts of future stay!

Awesome location and Stu was super responsive. Property needed some improvements (bbq wasn’t usable, blender broken, etc) but overall we had a great time.

Hi Monica, Sorry Alexis couldn't make it, reading your review, about a broken Bar B Q & a blender, 1st off I was wondering why I was never notified that these items we're not working ?? we we're in touch with each other almost everyday during your stay, we never tested the blender but if it didn't work we would have brought in a new one & as far as the Bar B Q not working, we test & clean the Bar B Q before each check in, I tested the Bar B Q myself before your check in & the Bar B Q was working fine, maybe you didn't read in the procedures that we're sent to you that you had to turn on the propane & even if the propane was out we always have a spare bottle for the guest.. I could'nt find anything wrong with the Bar B Q, it's working fine, I just tested it before our last check in on the 15th of April. The problem is the guests are ones that brake the items in the house & do not report them to us, we only discover broken items if one of the guests lets us know during their stay, now there have been 2 check ins since your stay & we are just now being notified. It is not the cost of the items it's finding replacements items & finding someone that will repair them, in Rincon, no one wants to work & we have to wait months sometimes years to make the household repairs and/or find the replacement parts and items.
