A beautiful location with a homely feel. Well equipped unit for four, great linen, lovely balcony. We paid more to have a sea facing room but considering how expensive the room was per night (and a lot more than last time we stayed) it’s disappointing that one room at least did not have an en-suite. Towels not changed daily (due to “saving water”), extra cleaning charge of $30 pp for the “two extra guests” even though we booked for four people - surely the room rate should be for four people if it is set up to sleep four? I guess the price increase is due to Covid (?) but it was a lot and with the exclusions mentioned above, quite disappointing.

Thanks for your stay Anonymous. The room base rate has always been for two people, and would have increased by $30 per person when you entered four people into your booking. This is an industry standard pricing practice, and in fact, there is competitors in Russell who actually charge $35 per extra person, so we consider our $30 charge very reasonable indeed. We have cheaper options if our beautiful waterfront units don't suit your needs any longer, so ahead of making your next booking with us, just get in touch with us and we can put you in the room that suits you best. We don't apologise for changing towels every second day. We are absolutely doing it to save water, as Northland is having yet another dry summer and we need to be mindful about our most precious resource.

Hosts were amazing and went out of their way to make our stay amazing ,provided transport to a restaurant and gave apps access to their personal freezer to freeze our fishing catch. Incredible location

The Lodge was spacious, simple and clean and the location was great very central. Also enjoyed the use of the spa .

Warm and welcoming

Love staying at Hananui, Shane and Christine are excellent hosts. The waterfront location is fantastic. The rooms are extremely clean, comfortable and homely.

Large studio apartment, great layout, private covered parking. Sky TV channels could be updated!
