Cozy Home Away from Home
Publié le 15 nov. 2021 sur HomeAwayMy husband and I stayed here to “get away” from life for a long weekend. We were thoroughly impressed with the furnishings and amenities of the cottage! Just a couple of small things to note for future tenants is that there is not a drip coffee maker, but there is a Keurig so be sure to bring Kcups if you want coffee and are staying more than a couple of nights (we had 4 Kcups supplied in a little snack basket!).
It is small, but is warm and had everything we needed to ensure a fun stay. The privacy fence around the fire pit and the porch were perfect for ensuring we were left alone, as the neighbors are quite close. No one was in the cabin beneath us so we didn’t have an issue with excess noise.
I was able to contact Tanja easily and ensure it was okay to bring both our dogs (a corgi and a lab) for our trip, as I didn’t realize the limit was 1 dog until after I booked, and she was quite gracious in allowing them!
We spent a lot of time enjoying the various hikes around the area and my husband was able to make homemade chili in the kitchen, which is beautiful. The best is very comfortable and the natural lighting and surrounding forest was beautiful this fall. Such a great experience!

Cozy Little Gem

The house is super clean and the furnishings very comfortable. The kitchen is wonderful! Lots of space left for me to store my food and Tanja really took time to think of everything you might need to make scrumptious meal.
Bed and bedding are both great and there is adequate room for my clothes and luggage..
The firepit is wonderful and my husbamd and I finished most nights around the fire with Marshmallows and chocolate.
It was a wonderful stay, both times. I would recommend it to everyone.

Great cabin, but description is missing some info

This cabin is cozy, it is remodeled, clean, and nice but a couple important details are left out of the description. If it weren’t for these issues it would get a 5 out of 5. First, This is a two cabin house. There is a separate cabin below you and you’re likely to be above someone. I was a little alarmed to hear noises come from below my space late at night only to realize that it wasn’t storage below me. It’s someone checking in late at night. I stayed 4 nights and the second day a very angry looking woman appeared looking at me. I smiled and said hello and she just walked away. I think she was having the same experience as I was, she didn’t know someone would be above her. I didn’t see her again. Second, this is on a property right next to someone’s house. Like literally, 25 feel away. The people that live there were outside and talked to me. And talked to me about politics. I wanted alone time and privacy… a mini retreat for myself. So unfortunately because of these issues it only gets a 3 out of 5. Had I known it was next to someone’s house and that I couldn’t sit outside and be alone, I wouldn’t have booked it. That isn’t necessarily the owners fault, but maybe it should be disclosed somehow in the description. Another option Is to hang outdoor curtains on the patio and porch facing the house next to you? Just a thought. Also, Asheville is an hour away, I don’t know that I would call that close, but maybe I should have checked GPS before I booked. Again, it is a great cabin and it’s clean, well taken care of, so if you need to be in this area and don’t mind the neighbors, it’s probably a good option for you.

Hi Dan,
We are sorry to hear that your trip did not go as expected. We always encourage our guests to contact us if there are issues or concerns and we are happy to address and remedy anything that is within our control. Yes, the home is divided into two completely seperate spaces so our guest can easily maintain their privacy but, unfortunately, it is not 100% guaranteed. As you suggested, we will be installing solar shades on the front porch to assist in some privacy for future guests and, while we do have neighbors, they have, historically, stayed distanced and have been very respectful and apolitical so it is unfortunate to hear you had a different experience. Any other issues that you have mentioned, that are within our ability to change, we are addressing in order to mitigate any future related problems.

5 Star base camp for a couples long weekend getaway.
Publié le 28 juin 2021 sur HomeAwayMy wife and I had lots of activities planned for our little get away, so we didn't spend a lot of time "in-house". That being said it was nice to just come "home" at night to shower, sleep and then head off for the next days events.
Communicating with Tanja was very easy and timely no matter if it was via vrbo or text on cell.
Would recommend and will definitely keep in mind for future visits to the area.
