The village of St Quentin de Caplong is a lovely quiet village and boasts a fabulous community shop open 7 days a week selling fresh bread and pastries, gorgeous locally grown fruit and vegetables and local wines. Wonderful walks and cycle routes are on the doorstep, and it is only a short distance to the beautiful Dordogne river (15 mins), with many riverside restaurants, beaches and picnic spots.
The historic bastide towns of St Foy La Grande (15 mins), Duras (20 mins), Bergerac (40 mins drive), and Eymet (40 mins) offer weekly markets, restaurants, bars and shopping. This is a major wine producing area, with many opportunities to taste and purchase Bordeaux and Bergerac wines direct from the vineyards. The magnificent medieval city of Saint-Émilion, and its world renowned wines, is just 40 mins away. For the more adventurous there are a wide range of activities close by including horse riding, golf, cycling, walking and river-based water sports.
All the major supermarkets are located in St Foy La Grande but there are smaller supermarkets in Duras and Gensac (10 mins). The sophisticated city of Bordeaux, with the longest shopping street in Europe, is just over an hour’s drive away.
