We want you to know how grateful we are that you have decided to stay at our home for your recharging and recuperation time! We hope that you and your friends and family have a great stay here with us! Sharing our home with others truly brings us delight! We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do when we have the ability to come down for a visit!
That being said, we ask that you would respect our home like it was your own. We want you to have a good time, but not at the expense of the home itself or any of the property within the home. Thank you in advance to adhering to these rules. We trust that you know they are there for a reason and that’s to allow you to have as much fun as possible and be safe while doing it while respecting the home, the property, and the neighbors. The home stays stocked with several starter supplies, such as dish washing detergent, Clorox wipes, toilet paper, some other household items. Please be prepared that you will likely need to supplement with your own items during your stay. 

Pet Fee
We enjoy bringing our two dogs, Max and Daisy, with us on vacation with us. For this reason we are a dog-friendly rental. We allow up to 2 dogs, up to 50 lbs. each.
(Sorry, no cats allowed.)
- At the time of booking please indicate that you are bringing your canine family member(s) with you so we can make sure that the pet fee is satisfied.
- We charge a one-time $129 non-refundable pet fee to bring your dog(s) with you. We don't like to charge this fee, but inevitably we will have dog-guests that cause damage to the home/property.
- Sorry… No cats allowed… It’s not that we don’t like our feline friends. It’s just that they sometimes leave permanent messes…

Travel Insurance
It is HIGHLY recommended and encouraged that you get travel insurance prior to traveling to the Outer Banks. As beautiful as the OBX is, the weather is a very real threat. If you don't currently have a travel insurance agent we recommend going online and compare prices and coverage. There are typically several options to choose from all of which are between only 3% and 8% of your reservation cost. Cancellations due to forced evacuation, including but not limited to flooding or hurricanes, will not be refunded and must be covered by travel insurance. Do not book this property if this is not acceptable to you. Per the North Carolina Vacation Rental Act (NCVRA), if travel insurance is waived or not procured there will be no host-funded refunds for mandatory evacuations.

Rental Agreement
North Carolina Vacation Rental Act (NCVRA) requires all rental guests to sign a standard rental agreement. This will be emailed to you upon making the reservation and must be signed prior to arrival. You will not be given a door code or granted access to the property without signing the vacation rental agreement, per North Carolina transient rental law.

House Rules
- Parties are not allowed.
- The main guest booking the reservation must be at least 25 years of age.
- Smoking is not allowed in the home or on the property. If you smoke inside the home you will be charged a $250 fee and increased cleaning fees as well as any damages the smoke causes.
- Parking is only permitted in the driveway, not in the yard.
- Dog poo clean-up is your responsibility. Please clean all dog poo from the yard prior to check-out.
- If dog poo is found in the yard there will be an additional $50 charge for dog poo removal.
- Dogs are not permitted on beds or furniture. It is VERY difficult to get dog hair out of linens and blankets.
- If dog hair is found on linens and blankets there will be an additional $150 charge for hair removal.
- Children are not permitted in the hot tub unless supervised by an adult.
- Alcohol is not permitted in or near the hot tub. Use hot tub at your own risk. 
- Unless otherwise communicated, late checkout or early checkin is not allowed. Our housekeepers are on a very tight schedule and their time is valuable. Feel free to send us a message to inquire, but please don't be surprised if we cannot accommodate.
- Soap, shampoo, toiletries, condiments, and charcoal are not provided. 
- Max allowed human beings in this home is 11 total. This home is on a septic system and too many guests can put a strain and cause serious damage to the system. If there are found to be more than 11 human beings staying on the property they will asked to leave immediately or risk the remainder of the reservation being cancelled and no refund will be given. (We hate to sound harsh and threatening. but replacing a septic tank can cost upwards of $20K).
- There is a Ring Doorbell camera on the front door to ensure that the number of individuals on the reservation match the number of individuals on premises.
-If the Ring Doorbell is covered, removed, damaged, or tampered with all guests will immediately be evicted and no refunds will be given. (We hate to be harsh, but this is only to protect our amazing guests, ourselves, and the property.)
- In the summer months the home can get very warm. Keeping the blinds and drapes shut during the day can help keep the home cooler during the day. Please keep the air conditioners set no cooler than 71 degrees on these hot days. Lowering the AC units into the 60’s may result in the AC units becoming overworked and freezing up resulting in no air conditioning at all. 
- We do have some minor check-out duties that you will be asked to complete prior to checkout. Nothing major, but we wanted to mention it. More details are available in our digital welcome guide that will be sent to you prior to your reservation.

From time to time the front yard and driveway can accumulate standing water after severely heavy rain. We are, after all, on The Outer Banks! Please check the weather before you come and if a large storm is in the forecast bring some rain boots and it shouldn’t be an issue. The water typically recedes within a few days. All part of the charm of visiting The Outer Banks!

*** UPDATE *** In July of 2021 we added 2 1/2 tons of millings to the driveway which increased driveway height over 4 inches. Since then we have had VERY heavy rains with no standing water under the car port. We figured we would leave this notice here anyways, just in case.

Amazing time!!
There were 3 of us and our dog that stayed in this home and it was perfect! We enjoyed the hot tub and the deck. The screened in patio was a very peaceful place for us to have breakfast in the morning. Chris was excellent about responding to any questions we had. We would definitely come back to this home!! I would leave 10 stars if it was possible!

We stayed here because the reviews were great, but after looking at his google realtor reviews, notice how almost all of them talk about how great he is or the owners are and not as much about the house and seem fabricated. VRBO doesnt let you post pics, but the bedframe was broken when we got there, the toaster, the fridge door, and the washing machine knob. (He told us the last guests did it) the carpets were in terrible shape (also blamed the last guests). Dog hair on every surface, even inside the microwave. Exposed wiring in an electrical outlet. Soft boards on the deck outside. The ceiling in the dining room had black mildew on it like it had been leaking and there were swipe marks like someone tried to clean it off. Our allergies were bothering us so bad part of the way through the trip, we packed up and booked a hotel and left. Im sure I will get a response that says they tried to make things right during our stay, but they should have already been done before we got there..thats part of owning a property. Would not recommend at all.

Our family enjoyed our week at Shore is Nice! The property is a short walk to the beautiful Salvo beaches. The house was clean and comfortable and the owners were helpful and responsive. We would definitely stay here again!

Relaxing vacation
We stayed at Shore Is Nice for a week with extended family. It was a lovely home in a relaxing setting. Salvo is more remote than many of the other OBX towns, but that added to the charm and pace of the stay. Hot tub was fun, kitchen was well-enough equipped. We appreciated their acceptance of dogs, so we could bring our small puppy along. Owners were communicative and always quick to reply. The price was right!

OBX Fun!
Our family of 5 (3 teenage and young adult children) and our sister and brother-in-law spent a week at this property and had a great time! It was our first time in the OBX and the location was perfect! It is centrally located so we never had more than a 20-40 minute drive to any of the places we wanted to visit. One day we headed North to see everything in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head. One day we headed South and did everything in Avon, Hatteras, etc. One day we spent on Roanoke….our favorite. We flew in so we were thankful there were beach chairs and umbrellas available for our use on our beach days. The owners are so kind and friendly. We had great communication with them. They were always quick to respond. Although, we didn’t have many questions because the welcome guide they provided was so helpful! Thank you! We referred to it often. The kitchen is very well stocked w/dishes and cookware. We had a great time! Thank you for hosting us!

This property served our family great, the description is very accurate. We arrived at night with easy driveway access, great communication with Chris and Rachel. Located conveniently to the beach in nice quiet neighborhood.

Perfect retreat during the off season
Chris was a fabulous host! His communication was thorough and the digital guestbook was extremely helpful. We love visiting the outer banks in the off-season, and Shore Is Nice didn’t disappoint. The home was in a perfect, quiet location and truly had everything we needed. Beds were comfy, kitchen was fully loaded and the hot tub was a dream. Our family had a wonderful & restful time.

Fun place. Great owners.
It’s a beach house so you can’t go wrong. Bring a flashlight cause at night it’s dark and there’s a few stairs. Honestly the home wasn’t as great as the owners. They are new owners I think and haven’t gotten things to the way they like it yet but the owners were the best part. Easy to communicate and quick to answer. Extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with.

Excellent Stay!
We came in from Texas and had family from Wilmington meet us. The house was awesome for the 10 of us! The location was awesome and the proximity to the beach was amazing! We loved the Waves market and deli! Such a cool little store, Chris our host was awesome and very communicative when needed! Highly recommend! Thanks for everything. We had not seen each other since before COVID and it was the perfect spot for our week together!
