Wifi was terrible. Limited to one room only and very weak coverage. Even 5G reception was weak. Bed and couches were not very comfortable.

Thank you for your review and for staying with us! We're so sorry the Wi-Fi was giving you issues. We actually had our internet system upgraded a few months ago and we haven't noticed or heard of any issues until now; we would have been more than happy to look into it for you had we known there was an issue. It does seem to be working normally now. Regarding the bed, we did recently have another guest ask us for the mattress information because she found the bed to be so comfortable and wanted to buy one for her own home; perhaps it is a matter of preference but we're truly sorry you didn't find it to be comfortable. It's important to me and my family that our guests enjoy their stay and we hope you left with some positive memories despite the aspects of the stay that you didn't enjoy. Historical beach home

Very nice in a historical original home. Restored nicely. The grotto room was lovely but the kitchen and bath could use a little update. Other then that it is an old Home so I don’t expect it to be super modern. Very cool old vibe. Nice and clean and comfy bed.

I would like a refund for my visit on July 7 as we were unable to sleep in the room. We arrived around 3 pm and the room was 80 degrees F. I turned on the AC and we opened the windows to get a breeze; unfortunately, there were no screens and soon bugs started flying into the room. We closed the windows and left for a few hours, returning after sunset. At our return the room was still stiflingly hot, it was still 80 degrees! The AC said it was on, but we walked the entire room and could not feel any air coming into the room. At this time we realized it would be too hot to try to sleep in the room, and we could not leave the windows open due to the bugs and also one side of the place opened directly onto the street, allowing anyone to step inside while we slept. We therefore booked a room at a nearby Holiday Inn Express which cost us over $161, but had working AC. The description of this property SHOULD include that there is no air conditioning and the windows are not screened! I booked the room last minute during a heat wave and would NEVER have submitted myself to that kind of miserable heat!

Hi Christine,Unfortunately there is nowhere on Expedia to specifically indicate "no AC" or else we certainly would have selected that. We toggled on "Heating" and "Fan" on our listing and did not select "Air Conditioning".You said that anyone could step inside if the windows on the street side are open but the street side windows have thick wooden bars (not in place for security but decorative and original to the design of our historic building) so it would be impossible for anyone to get in the room that way. The bars can be seen on one of the photos on our listing.As for the windows that are facing our courtyard, they are not screened because screens would inhibit the beauty of the view. During the hot part of the day in the summer, flies sometimes fly in but that's not an issue at nighttime or when it cools down. One of the most charming things about the Grotto Studio is that it faces the courtyard and you can hear the ocean and fountain, so many guests enjoy having the windows open.We are so sorry you didn't enjoy your stay as we are a family-owned and run business and it's genuinely important to us that our guests are happy. We wish you would have reached out to us when you were here because we would have told you about the AC and the barred windows, given you another fan, and tried to accommodate you the best we could. We had no idea you were having any issues with your stay or that you left. Again, we are so sorry and we wish you the very best.Thank you,Shelly
