Just steps from this lovely home is Palisades Park Beach, one of San Diego's best surfing spots and family beaches.

Early mornings, you will have the opportunity to rise with the locals and bring your coffee cup over to the cliffs to watch early morning surfers.

If early mornings are not your thing, blend with the locals and join the yogis on the cliffs around 9:30 and again late afternoons. The lessons are on a donation basis and are designed for beginners as well as super experts.

Afternoons, on windy days, you will see the colorful kite surfers who maneuver their boards and kites with extreme dexterity. Nightly, on the cliffs of Palisades Park, you can watch the stunning sunsets with other locals who gather as the sun goes down.

The “Boardwalk” begins here at Palisades Park and extends for over three miles down to the jetty.

Action on the Boardwalk begins in the early morning with walkers, runners, cyclists with their beach cruisers, and skate boarders getting their morning exercise. Others, just wanting the serenity of watching the ocean are found sitting on the many benches overlooking the ocean.

Coffee shops, bars and restaurants dot the Boardwalk and fill up fast particularly on holidays or during football season.

The Boardwalk also is home to Crystal Pier where fishing poles and bait are ready for all (no license required).

Those looking who prefer to hang out “At The Beach” while sipping coffee/wine on their own private patio, can enjoy the patio bar overlooking the animated street and ocean views: From the privacy of your own residence, you can watch the ever changing landscape of North Pacific Beach: neighbors, surfers, cyclists, daring skate boarders, dog walkers and beach goers all pass by bringing a slice of life to this constantly changing video.

And for those family members who seriously need a retreat, At The Beach offers a very rare commodity: a private sunny, enclosed backyard, with lounge chairs and seating for one-on-one conversations or a private space just “To Be.”

If you are in the mood for shopping, Garnet Ave has it all. From eclectic, one of a kind boutiques, Garnet is also home to ice cream shops, bars and tattoo businesses that Pacific Beach (PB) is known for.

The most frequented store by far is Pangaea Outpost where locals rent spaces and sell a variety of entertaining gifts and wear. Just off Garnet (near Pangaea) on Tuesdays is the PB Farmers Market from 2-6:30.

Throughout Pacific Beach, on the Boardwalk and dotted throughout the community and on into Mission Beach, you will find surfing schools as well as aquatic centers which offer daily and weekly courses for all ages. These schools have excellent programs/camps for children. Enroll early!

Bayside offers additional water related activities (paddle boarding/kayaking/jet packing) at or near the Catamaran. Moms and Dads will find Fanuel Park a great place to take their youngsters who will enjoy the swinging on the swings, climbing the jungle-gyms, and riding the cement dolphins as well as playing in the calm of the Bayside waters.

Bayside is also a great place for families to bike ride since the crowds are a bit less than on the Boardwalk.

Golfers will find their paradise in the nearby golf courses: Mission Beach Municipal Golf Course (by the I-5) as well as Torrey Pines public course. For those wanting a challenging course, Balboa Golf Course, adjacent to Balboa Park is another fine option.

North Pacific Beach and particularly At The Beach offers a low-density area with tranquil, spacious outdoor living and the amenities of your own home, all while being planted in a vibrant, hip area of San Diego.

North Pacific Beach borders La Jolla (Birdrock) on the North and Mission Beach on the South.

Our neighborhood is inhabited primarily by locals and has only a few vacation rentals. The neighbors are respectful and friendly and appreciate having neighbors who enjoy the low density and lack of nighttime noise, reserving the evening for rest and relaxation.

We ask that those staying at At The Beach respect the neighbors and evening curfews.

This property does allow PETS. For guests bringing pets - there are certain rules that always apply. Pets are never to be left alone in the homes uncrated if they are prone to bark or are not house broken. If you plan on spending time away from your pets please find a doggy day care or crate your pet. Any damage caused by your pet is not covered under your damage insurance. You can call our office for recommendations or check the Welcome Book.

Pet Fee: $40/Night per pet (ask about flat rates for stays of 1 week or more).

This home is located in a quiet neighborhood and is only suitable for quieter groups. Our rental agreement includes a no tolerance policy regarding excessive noise, occupancy and/or parties. Deposit forfeitures and/or evictions are strictly enforced.

This home has a maximum occupancy of 6 people. You may not exceed that at any time.

You must be a minimum of 25 years or older to book this unit.

The house was adequately apportioned and true to the photos. Lovely patio and backyard. Small shared indoor space which lacked a dining table. Ceiling / floor noise from upper unit was very prevalent with small children running around, especially in early mornings. But overall nice place.

Exactly What We Were Looking For!
Loved this place, it was perfect for our needs. Went for a short surf trip, it was my son (30), myself (50) and my little 11 pound dog. Perfect amount of space for us, the yard was great for the dog and can we talk about this location??? Close to all the surf spots, Garnet for shopping and eating, and the sunset from Tourmaline was beautiful. We will be back!

Labor Day Weekend
Wonderful 3 bedroom home just off the beach! We stayed for Labor Day weekend, lots to experience, great food options, and barefoot walking distance to the beach. Beautiful grass backyard and large patio for sunsets. Beds were incredibly comfortable, 2 great bathrooms and all the living amenities. We will definitely look to stay again!

Very nice place., roomy, nice out door areas. Rental was clean except for Dog hair from previous guest was not vacuumed well, was every where even in the washer. I had to vacuum it up 3 times.Also, I removed dirt and spider webs from outdoor furniture. With a more through cleaning and some paint touchups inside, the place would be perfect.

Our family really enjoyed this property! The beds are comfy and everything was provided. The back yard was absolutely perfect for our two dogs. They could go from front deck to back yard and live their best lives. The upstairs unit can be loud but it’s to be expected when staying in an older house.

This property is about 2 blocks from the north end of Pacific Beach. The parking spot proved to be invaluable, as all the street parking was always full. Three big rooms, a large living room, large front patio, and large back yard made it easy to enjoy time together with friends.

Inviting home in a great location. Large backyard and large front terrace and one block from the beach. Quiet neighborhood and yet within walking distance to shops, restaurants either in Pacific Beach or Birdrock. Boardwalk access close by. Great for the whole family including the dog!
Great for the whole family including the dog! Very friendly neighbors, very dog friendly neighborhood as well as the beach. The beach is open to dogs after 4 PM until sunset. Great location! Very comfortable home.

Before saying anything specific about the rental, I’ll say that we enjoyed our stay and the rental was pretty much up to our expectations. It’s located a short walk from the beach and beachside restaurants, bars and boutiques. The unit seems best fitted for 3 to five people depending on willingness to share the long and queen beds. The other amenities are as advertised. Nice sundeck and backyard. The major negative is the noise. There is the constant sound of the upstairs neighbor(s) footsteps! A previous reviewer had commented on this. So I should not have been surprised or irritated. But I thought it may have been a one time thing. However. there is limited carpeting over hardwood floors in the rental. And, based on the noise from above, one assumes the same for the upstairs unit. After a bit, we just laughed about “Bigfoot”. However, it did create a little self consciousness about our own noise generation. The only other irritation was a loose kitchen faucet fixture which should have been noticed and fixed before we checked in.

Had issues.
When we arrived for our month long stay we had several issues right away. There were only 3 forks and 2 spoons, all the cups were plastic and they all leaked, the skillets were in very poor shape and there was only one kitchen towel. The sink facet was broken, beach chairs were rusted and super cheap, deck was full of cob webs, plants were dead and the light in the laundry room was out. Management was very good and took care of most of these things quickly. We also had to buy our own toilet paper, dish and laundry soup and trash bags. The place itself is nice BUT THE BIGGEST ISSUE is the fact that you can hear every single step and toilet flush from the apartment up above. This was a terrible problem. 3 of the 4 guests that stayed above us had young children and they loved to run around the apartment which was VERY difficult to deal with. We woke every morning to the sound of upstairs guests urinating and flushing. Ugh. If it weren’t for the noise from the upstairs apartment we would definitely return but it was just too annoying. The porch, yard and location are great. We are VRBO owners ourselves and for the price we paid for this house we certainly wouldn’t think we would have to buy our own toilet paper etc.

Clean, spacious, and great location. Would love to rent this space again in the future. Walking distance from the beach and local restaurants, shops and bars. Please know there is salt and pepper in the kitchen but no other spices, oil or cooking basics, so you’ll need to plan accordingly.

Great location
The property was located so it was an easy walk to the beach and restaurants. The house was cleaned and updated. There is really only 2 bedrooms, however, and the ‘meditation room’ which has a day bed is musty and needs a good dusting. I couldn’t sleep in there, but my son was able to tolerate it. Also, you can hear the upstairs tenants walking. It wasn’t clear in the listing that it’s a shared tenancy; it was only until I had already booked and then read a review that came up later that I realized this. It didn’t interfere, but it should be something noted right away. Lastly, the laundry is located outside of the apartment, and it is shared. I was trying to launder items to get ready to leave, and the woman who was sent to clean the upstairs unit in between tenants barged in and demanded to access the laundry immediately. She was on a time table, too, evidently. Just plan for this. The kitchen was sparsely stocked, as in 1 spice, and the grill needs replacing. We wanted to use it, but opted not to because it was old and falling apart and greasy. The stove inside worked well, though. Note that there is not enough utensils for a family. A restock is needed. All of these minor points though were outweighed by the great location.

Nice location
Great location; a nice quiet neighborhood, close to the beach and a short walk to Pacific Beach restaurants and bars. The master bedroom door doesn't slide closed all the way but that wasn't an issue for me but could be for some. Definitely can hear footsteps and other activity from apartment above but it luckily wasn't ever late or too early.
