About what you'd expect for a hostel. Things are clean enough, and the bed's good enough. The staff were very nice.

CENTER CITY HOSTEL
Posted Feb. 9, 2017 on Expedia
Pros: CONVENIENT AND CLEAN
Cons: AS A BUDGET HOTEL I FEEL THEY ARE DOING THEIR BEST, FOR ME CLEAN IS A MUST AND I FELT THAT
Location: EVERYTHING NEARBY WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE, PARK WITH A NICE PAVILION ACROSS THE STREET, BUS STATION FEW BLOCK DOWN WITH A NICE CLEAN MARKET
A HOME TRANSFERRED INTO A HOTEL, LOOK LIKE A FAMILY RUN, JOANNA VERY NICE AND MORE THAN ACCOMMODATING, NO FANCY OR LUXURY BUT A HUMBLE CLEAN COMFORTABLE PLACE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY WITH GATED PARKING, WALKING DISTANCE TO ALL LOCAL MARKET, BUS DEPOT AND SO..

You might get by with ear plugs

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
The facility is only for those in desperate need of a short term. It is directly across from the main, central park. You can expect early activity, lots of traffic (it is a Taxi stand location) and very undesirable motor cycle hangouts and racing and general boisterous noise until the early morning hours. Only good for younger back packers and those that can't afford anything else. Also, this is not the hotel that you want if you are coming from SJO airport. I moved to B&Bgardengrecia. Now that's worth the money.

Hostel across from Main Plaza
Posted Apr. 15, 2016 on HotelsGreat Hostel across from the plaza. There is a lot of traffic and the cabs park right there with their radios talking until late. Other than being a noisy neighborhood, it was great. The church bell clanged every 15 minutes.

Convenient place just outside of San Jose
Posted Dec. 6, 2015 on ExpediaWe got into San Jose airport late at night, so we didn't want to have to drive too far our first night and didn't have any desire to go into San Jose. This hostel was approx 40 minutes drive from the airport. We were able to park our rental car in their gated driveway, which we appreciated. They were very friendly. There were 4 of us travelling together, so we stayed in a 4 bed dorm together, which consisted on 2 bunk beds. The beds were pretty uncomfortable, but we were only staying for 1 night, so it was bearable. The walls are also very thin, so you can hear all the traffic outside, as well as the church bell that seemed to ring all the time, for long periods of time, which seemed to go all night and day. The hostel was clean and very cute. There's a nice back yard relaxing area that is very pretty. We didn't get to use it because we went to sleep as soon as we checked in and got up early to check out to continue our journey up to LA Fortuna. Overall it was fine for a 1 niht stay, and the cheap nightly rate was appropriate. I would not recommend this place for long stays unless noise and uncomfortable beds don't bother you when you sleep.

Hostel in Grecia
Posted Nov. 11, 2015 on ExpediaIt's a hostel, not a hotel! This hostel is and has everything we expect of it. Rooms are clean and adequate, simple but comfortable. Situated across from the beautiful Central Park in Grecia and diagonally across from the beautiful Red Metal Church. One of the counter staff, Marco, is most helpful and pleasant to deal with! We are coming back for 3 weeks soon!

Greg stay at Mangifera
Posted Jul. 28, 2015 on HotelsMy stay was great at Mangifera! I made a mistake reserving my stay (I had made the reservation for the night before but I arrived the next day) Marco (the general manager) said there was no problem and helped me fix my mistake. The hostel is in Grecia about an hour or so by bus from SJO . It's a nice hostel right on grecia's town square. I was in a dorm with only three beds, best of all you have a kitchen you can use! definitely affordable and perfect if you are looking for a relaxing stay outside San Jose, CR. definitely recommend it!

Family run hostel.
Posted Apr. 11, 2015 on Expedia
Pros: Location, upstairs balcony, overlooking the park. Clean, bright, cheerful place
Cons: The phones!!
Location: Grecia is not a tourist town, and that is it's greatest attraction. It is the genuine article.
I was unable to contact the hostel to arrange an apt p/up, but later learnt they were experiencing problems with the phone lines. The family take great pride in their hostel and are very polite and accommodating. Having a kitchen was a big plus; so was sitting in the garden enjoying one's cooking! The location of the property is superb, close to everything. I would definitely stay there again.

Pleasant stay in Grecia
Posted Feb. 19, 2015 on HotelsNice enough. Very well maintained. Central location, close to the bus station and opposite the park, which is both positive - nice outlook - and negative - street noise. (Bring earplugs.) Quiet garden in the back. Pleasant balcony overlooking park. I'd stay again. It suited me fine.

Nice hostel, central location.
Posted Dec. 30, 2014 on ExpediaThe place was great and near taxis and the bus station. It is right across the street from a wonderful Catholic Church. There is some traffic and church noise so bring some earplugs if you're sensitive and you'll love it :)
