Apartment 9 located in front of El Convento Hotel at the center of the colonial city in Old San Juan. The apartment was refresh about 2 years ago and can accommodates up to 6 persons. Amenities include
internet, 3 sofa beds, TV, back terrace, 2 portable air conditioner units, private balcony with a wonderful view of Calle del Cristo. Walking steps attractions include Museums, Palace of Santa Catalina, Old San Juan Cathedral and El Morro fortress. Nearby Ocean views and night life, perfect for exploring the city. TJ Bar is on the first floor of the building, good for a drink after a day of exploring the city.

READ FIRST! Awesome price for what you get, all things considered. The listing is a little misleading in terms of amenities. It really only sleeps 5 max, and that’s if you double up on the queen bed. There is no air conditioning in the master bedroom either. The WiFi has extremely poor signal so it’s basically worthless. There is also no washer & dryer. Everything is filthy, it’s like living in a frat house basically. Cockroaches, dead animal smell in the bathroom, dirty floors, etc. THE GOOD!: immediately located downtown. Standing on the balcony is awesome over looking the streets and hearing the noise of the night life while having a beer over the balcony is a great time. The sheets were clean, the hot water works in the shower, and you can almost always find parking right on the street outside. All in all, a good spot if you just want a place to rest at the end of the night, but by no means a comfortable environment. Still recommend though

I didn't like that it was dirty, abandoned, reeks of hymeness, burnt outlets, the windows didn't close, there was no air conditioning that worked well, doors that didn't close well, not all the lights worked and the laundry room was locked

Horrible - literally the WORST
The host stopped answering my messages about plumbing and cleanliness issues upon arrival and blatantly ignored me the rest of my stay. The toilet had stopped working due to extreme rust and we had to manually flush the toilet from within the water tank. The shower’s hot and cold knob had been broken off and the broken pipe was exposed causing a constant stream of water to flow out from the hole in the wall which was hip-level. The host’s solution was for us to shower at another unit which had no light, AC and no running water! This was all upon arrival. The guest room in the unit had duct tape covering all the cracks and holes in the framing. Exposed electrical wiring. To top it all off, the unit was dirty with dirty utensils and dirty towels hanging off doors which smelled like mold and the balcony had trash and cigarette butts. We waited for a resolution which never came. The day we left, the power was shut off on us at 8AM. Never have i ever stayed at a more horrible place in my life.

A nightmare
We were unable to stay there. The property was in a very bad condition there was no electricity and there was licking all over the property. We ended up in a hotel. The property manager promised to reimburse us the money we paid but she never did. I sent her a text to remind her, but she never responded. I am very disappointed.

We arrived here at about two thirty in the morning to find out that their was no electricity. We were using our cellphones to look around to see if there was something we were missing to be able to turn the electricity back on. With only the cellphone lights we found a fuse box which did not help us get the electricity on I called our host with no response. When we started to look around more we noticed cobwebs everwhere, broken cabinets, stains on the beds and the futon couch. All of this with just cellphone flashlights. You can imagine if we had electricity what it looked like....We could not stay there.. We had to then find somewhere else to stay at three am in the morning. I was promised a refund from the host twice. Once over the phone with a representative and then over text message. I have not received my refund which I was promised. We did not stay there and it was not even clean enough to stay there.BUYERS BEWARE!! I think the good reviews are fake or about another property.

We arrived to the property and it had zero electricity!!! Horrible condition of apartment, bed bugs are infested in the apartment. You can feel them crawl all over your as soon as you sit or lay down. Horrible condition do not recommend staying here. The owner failed to tell us it had electricity until we arrived and her response to us was just giving us our money back the day we arrived leaving us without a place while we were already in PR. Started off our trip horrible because of this!!!

If you are in to an older apt within Old San Juan, and do not feel the need for decent air conditioning, this might be acceptable for you. Definitely in a walkable entertainment and historical area. Of the three advertised portable A/C units, the one in back bedroom could not turn on making it in sleep able for my older sister. The from room is so large that the unit can’t really cool it. Host contacted upon discovery of not working unit. Housekeeper visited later but to no avail. More likely sleeping for four rather than six comfortably

If you want 5-star amenities, this is not for you. If you want clean accommodations in a local neighborhood at the center of the walking area, grab this place if you can. Two bedrooms, a small balcony overlooking tons of pedestrians. It has TV, AC, but who needs them with this location. I will look for this apartment for my next trip.

Great location for a place to crash in San Juan Antiguo!
Perfect location to see all of the sites of old San Juan. Historic building is located within walking distance to everything you want to see and do. Keep in mind the age of the building and try to appreciate the historic beauty. Property manager was very friendly and communicated with us about any concerns we had. We never were able to figure out the Wi-Fi but it’s OK because we really wanted to unplug. If you are bougie and wanting to stay somewhere that is luxurious, this is not the place for you, but we loved it. There was a mixup when we arrived, and the unit had not been cleaned yet, but the housekeeper came right away and worked for hours to make sure everything was spotless for us, we really appreciated it. It is above a lively bar so it might not be for everyone but I think it added to the excitement of the trip.

This unit is in a fantastic location right on the main street. Great for people watching an easy walk to everything.! Some of the old previews talked about loud music going on we did not encounter that. In fact, TJ’s has been closed for a while now.. the beds were a little hard, but had plenty of pillows.

Shocked, and dissapointed
Apt is in a very good location, across the street of Convent hotel, we stayed for 2 nights 3 days, 2 of the days rained. Our surprise was coming back to the apartment, after a rainy day. It was like a swimming pool. Water everywhere on the floor, and water leaking from the ceiling. I text the manager, and was told she would send someone the next day to clean, but how are we supposed to go to sleep with all the water everywhere? We had to sleep with water all over the floor , dripping from the ceiling. The apartment needs a lot of upgrade, no hot water to shower, safety concerns, not having the fans without the safety covers, outlets as well. Good luck renting this horrible apartment. Thank God it was only. 2 nights, sorry for the long review, but you need to be aware of the condition before you book, I know is a good price but. Is better to pay more and enjoyed your Vacation

Tried to ignore other bad reviews, should have listened. Ended up cutting my losses and leaving after only one night. Furniture was worn and dirty, shower only had a very slow dribble, light fixtures hanging from walls, broken cabinets, with bedding straight out of my grandma's closet (old & threadworn). Doors did not close, front door lock sketchy at best. AC units very loud and didnt work well making sleep almost impossible. After dealing with marijuana smoke from either the neighbors or the bar downstairs, we had to leave as I'm allergic to it (not fault of rental owner). Poorest quality VRBO I have ever stayed in, doesn't meet even basic safety standards. If this sounds like a great place for you, enjoy it! If not, book a hotel, which is what we should have done in the first place.

Horrible Apartment in Prime Location. Make your pick.
I did read all the bad reviews and the mention of the roaches but had no choice due to lack of affordable options for Labor Day weekend and took a chance and hoped for the best. What you see is what you get. The pictures show you it's not a very updated place, but my main issue is the cleanliness and the roaches!! A place can be outdated and clean. The bed sheets in my bedroom had hair as if the sheets might have not been washed. The shower looked dirty, we wore sandals when showering. Big roaches anywhere at any time (one jumped on a family member while sleeping in the middle of the night). Horrible. Couldn't even sleep thinking I was next! If you need to be in OSJ for a good price and only need a place to sleep, this is an option. Otherwise, beware, don't ruin your trip. We rented 3 different properties during our trip and kept talking about the horrible experience in this one. I'm very much expecting the same response to my review as everyone else's, that it's all lies. Believe the reviews. One last thing, if you need wifi forget it. I wrote to the manager that the network noted on the instructions didn't show as an option, and they said they would get back to me with the new wifi information. Never heard back.

In the center of it all
GREAT LOCATION!!! If you want to see historic Old San Juan, hit the night life, and be within walking distance of EVERYTHING this is the place for you! The apartment is great for a couple or a girls/guys trip. The nightlife is hopping within seconds of the front door. Great restaurants and historic sights are also within seconds. Ingrid was great and accommodating, answered every phone call I made. I will definitely stay here again… as a matter of fact we are thinking of going back for the San Sebastián festival and we will be staying here if we can make it!

Esta propiedad se ubica en un lugar muy céntrico y seguro del viejo san Juan. pero las condiciones del lugar no son aceptables, poca limpieza, ventiladores oxidados, luces que no funcionan, un sofa sucio y roto, el techo tiene grietas muy grandes muy peligrosas. cucarachas gigantes. mi experiencia no fue nada buena. tube que abandonar la propiedad al día siguiente y aun no responden por rembolso.

It a filthy apt no real kitchen ac in poor condition and only in bed room , no locks on doors , code on door knob never changed , 3 legged couch and patio furniture (metal old rusty) large holes in ceiling and towels put in holes in the walls . I stayed one night and left notification to landlord when left very rude. Would like a refund for the 5 nights I did not stay. Either Travelocity or the landlord though Travelocity should refund my money and her ability to book on Travelocity should be revoked.

The price to stay matched the expectation of the property. I read through all the reviews before booking and wanted to give my input based on what others said and what I experienced. First off... the host is not fluent in English; the communication between the host and myself seemed to be them copying and pasting a translation from Google to communicate. I asked if we could check in early due to an early flight and requested details on a few things and the response was something along the lines of "welcome", I tried to ask again and I got another odd response that didn't quite make sense. This was not a damper on the stay, just an observation. The apartment was clean but it did seem to have an appearance of being run down - cracks in the walls, no real appliances, outlets hanging outside of walls, toilet seat not fastened down (slides everywhere on use). The location was fantastic and it was easily accessible. The advertisement states there was AC; however, there were only two portable units in the room (the one in the master room had the vent disconnected from the wall... It was very hot. The windows were the only thing that NEED to be addressed because... they were broken and left multiple fist-sized openings lol... I kid you not, we walked into the room and there was a cat in our room... it got in through the window hole... we like cats so no big deal but for those who are afraid or allergic, this may be huge.
