Dated but great location

Breakfast offering is excellent with table service.
Swimming pool is good size with steam rooms and jacuzzi.

Thank you for the review - but we strongly contest the remark that "Hotel and rooms are very dated". We completely agree that we are not cutting edge "modern" - apart from a Premier you will not find that in any small, seasonal, seaside town, let alone on a small island and, in any case, the building would not lend itself to such a treatment. Our "public" areas are basically some superb interior brickwork with mahogony woodwork and brass metalwork, whilst bedrooms have modern blondwood Swedish design furniture. And the whole property is well looked after and streets ahead of most of competitor hotels on the island. May we suggest that readers, and indeed the author of this review, look at the photos on our page of Hotels.com/Expedia. They faithfully depict our public areas and room types including style and colours - so just why was the reservation made if "modern" was desired?

The room was small. The staff were all friendly and brilliant and did everything to make our stay as good as it could be. The only negative was the attitude of the owner who tried to belittle me because I said the bedroom was small, which it was.

The reason for writing a review is obviously in order to advise those who read them as to good and bad points. The writer of this review is also obviously cognicant of this as she has written nearly 300 on Google (see later) So what will a reader take away from this review? a) That our rooms are small and b) That the owner (me) sought to "belittle" the reviewer. With respect, both are incorrect.All that I did was to FACTUALLY respond to the review that the client placed on Google, 3 days before this one on Expedia - and that response was necessary to safeguard not only our own livelihood but also that of our 25 members of staff. The review left then was the same as now - obviously without the negative comment about me - and please note that her "because I said" should correctly read "because I WROTE". The criticised response on Google was:The two rooms booked were both in our budget range of Small Ensuite Doubles and Small Ensuite Twins. As their name implies they are smaller than our Standard Rooms – in particular their Ensuite facilities are very small (well illustrated by the photos on the web site) but functional and this is reflected in their lower price. After "Small" we have (and which were were available when the client made the reservation) the following in respect of size (and of course price) Standard, Superior, Large Archway and finally a Four Poster Suite. Also to be noted is that the floor area of all our room types are shown on web sites.

Review of room and service
Publié le 29 juill. 2024 sur HotelsMy wife and were more than happy with the cleanliness of our room, the staff at the hotel bent over backwards to help us as we both have to walk with sticks. The breakfast was amazing could not fault it. We will definitely return. Unfortunately we had to cut our holiday short by 1 day as my wife was taken ill, the reception took everything out of my hands and sorted out the car ferry for us brilliant.

Could do with daily top up of shower gel, the sachets are difficult to open and too small.

Fantastic value for money would recommend dtaying here. All the staff are wonderful from reception to bar to the excellent breakfast special thanks to Harvey. The hotel has good facilities and is walking distance to beach, bars and restaurants everything you need. Only thing I would change is beds we are used to king size and they are doubles and noisy! Will definitely return.

The room in question was a Standard Double and these have standard beds. But for just a little more we have Superior and then even Large Archway - both types of which have Kingsize beds.
