A good old fashioned English hotel. Friendly. Breakfast brilliant. The only thing was the bed. Plastic noise and not very comfortable.

If only people would tell us as obviously housekeeping staff do not lay down on beds! This was also 242 (see previous review which was posted on the same day and, luckily, "Anonymous" does not mean that we cannot see the details of a client). Once the room was identified the problem was apparent - the bed's base was cracked - thereafter also the cause - a morbidly obese client (two clients further back). So 4 clients had suffered and not said a word! Solution - a new base arrived on the 26th. Please note that one client says bed was uncomfortable whilst the other says comfortable - probability is the different likes as to soft/firm - all of our's are sourced as medium which seem to suit 95% of our guests.

Loud creeky double bed
Publié le 22 sept. 2024 sur HotelsAlthough the bed was comfortable it was disappointing that you couldn't get in or out without loud creaking noises that disturbed your sleeping partner.

I wish i had booked this hotel to start with as stayed here before but they took my booking at very short notice and nothing was too much of an issue.
Quiet room which made for a peaceful sleep.

Lovely staff, very friendly. Nice to have table service at breakfast, although we didn't always get what we asked for, but it was lovely all the same. The public areas, corridors and rooms were immaculately clean. I booked specifically because of the indoor pool which was fantastic. Most mornings I had it to myself. The bar was lovely to sit in for evenings and the drinks prices were amongst the cheapest we encountered on the Island. Will definitely stay again as Sandown makes a fantastic base to explore the Island. Would highly recommend the to anyone, whether you are a family or a couple. Thank you The Wight, you're doing a great job.👍

Thank you for the review - but we strongly contest the remark that "Hotel and rooms are very dated". We completely agree that we are not cutting edge "modern" - apart from a Premier you will not find that in any small, seasonal, seaside town, let alone on a small island and, in any case, the building would not lend itself to such a treatment. Our "public" areas are basically some superb interior brickwork with mahogony woodwork and brass metalwork, whilst bedrooms have modern blondwood Swedish design furniture. And the whole property is well looked after and streets ahead of most of competitor hotels on the island. May we suggest that readers, and indeed the author of this review, look at the photos on our page of Hotels.com/Expedia. They faithfully depict our public areas and room types including style and colours - so just why was the reservation made if "modern" was desired?
