Great neighborhood but listing was a bit misleading

The listing shows an additional trailer in the back that has an extra bed. However, upon arriving to the property this was off limits and required an additional cost. This was not conveyed to me in a clear matter. Luckily we didn't require it so our stay was unaffected.

Nice cottage, too small for six

But the house had only 2 baths which made it tighter than expected, so I'm super glad there were 2 less people. The number of baths was super important and the primary reason I booked it instead of hotel. If the 3rd bath was in the extra $ trailer in back, it was not clear.

Cute and clean

Perfect Santa Barbra get away

The house was clean, fully stocked with everything we needed, and had plenty of room for our group of 6. The location was perfect - situated on a quiet street that was perfect for relaxing at the house in the evening, while still being just a super quick walk to everything in the area around State Street. David was incredibly helpful and responsive during our stay. Thanks for a lovely weekend!

Decent property, great location
Publié le 9 nov. 2023 sur HomeAwayFair warning: parking is a little tight, so maybe don't bring a huge truck if it can be avoided. Our SUV fit just fine, but anything bigger might be tough. The location was great. Layout of the house itself is a little weird, but still a great place! The communication with the property owner was A+ as well. I will definitely stay again if I'm ever back in Santa Barbara.

We concur! Tight parking, the old model T driveway is 8' wide and not an inch more at the beginning. And the house is weird, insofar as it began with a prominent dining room which was a major inclusion back about 1905. Its a bedroom now. And bath #2 was set in the dead center for best functionality but the change this-add that has a cumulative effect after while and it can seem weird. But this is my favorite house to use myself. It is weird! A lot of these old places started with a big dining room. Which was critical then but they have become bedrooms now. So the original flows have all changed. Ok thx. D

Friends Getaway

The layout of the house was a bit awkward for 3 adults due to there only being one shower.
An eating area in the kitchen would have been nice, but there was no room for one.
The sleeping porch mattress was uncomfortable - too soft.
Otherwise, everything worked well and the house was clean.

HI, Thanks for your review, and you hit hard to cover personal specs. Very valid, but innkeepers have forever been having beds that one person dislikes and the next asks about buying it. And for the record there is a lounging full bath as well as a separate shower in another bath. The dining table and 4 chairs in the main room may have been put to some other use.
But Im glad this worked in all the other ways. Great value in SB to house 3+ adults and thanks for staying with us. I will consider what could be creatively
done as an eating shelf or island in the kitchen. Thanks for the thoughts,

Low Effort Overpriced
Publié le 20 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwayI'm sad to leave this review, because the house has potential to be great. The location is convenient, quiet, felt safe, all that good stuff. The kitchen was nice and functional. The driveway was bonkers, but worked out okay. The property was okay...there's a dirty old camper outback next to a neglected hot tub.
The main problem is the furniture. The listing is accurate, but somehow every single piece of furniture in this house is actively uncomfortable. The beds felt ancient and creaky and rock hard - we tried both main beds left us with sore backs the entire trip. One of them dipped in the middle and the other one was on a weird incline.
The couch is not even a couch - it's just two tiny beds stuck together and one of them doesn't have a back. You're just sitting there with your back up against a window sill. Even the chairs in the living room were all functionally useless.
Minor complaint - TV was from like 2008 and barely ran Netflix.
Communication with the owner was next to nonexistent. I had to follow up on the day of and ask how to get into the place. I contacted him about the air conditioner and he didn't reply for hours.
If this was a super cheap rental, I'd say okay, you can live with it, but I spent $2,099 for a Friday-Monday trip to stay in a place that was less comfortable than a Super 8 Motel. If you're making that much per night, take some of that money and invest it in the few pieces of furniture that literally all of your guests will be using.

HI Will, Your review is perfectly valid and may also go in to jag a bit though (everything wrong). Beds are an Innkeepers bain and one guest dislikes them and the next group wants to buy them. Because we are all different. I put those two small complete but small beds in the living room to have more real sleep space for guest groups that come to town a lot for weddings and larger groups. But I may see what my staff says about this. They are good loungers (Ruth is my favorite house and I stay there 5-8 days a month myself) to stretch out on but will not replicate a couch. This is in the description. But I can see where a shoes off, kick back couch is another choice and maybe it would be better to go back to that. There's some validity to expecting that. LR dining chairs and the deep red chair are fine and the 1950's trailer becomes a child play placeIm going to discuss and/or day nap room with a queen bed in there within the next 2-3 weeks, to be as finished. Lots of positives of its location, the kitchen (which is my favorite as well), no mention of deficit cleaning and mentioning our accurate and detailed descriptions; we appreciate you benefitted from those. Im going to discuss some of your input w staff, Thanks Will, David

Wedding Stay
