Villa Mariposa (10) is nestled in a private cove on a secluded ebony beach, our privately owned two-level home is one of four Bahia Pez Vela Resort Villas on the north side of the Soluna Beach Club that offers a beautiful vista of the beach and privacy from the main area of the resort .

Incredible black sand beachfront home
Our family stayed a week at Bahia Pez Vela - Villa 10. The owner sent wonderful comprehensive instructions to facilitate our arrival into the country and the home. The home had everything we needed and so much more. We cooked several meals at home and the kitchen was amply stocked. The living room, kitchen, and dining area had a wonderful open floor plan allowing us to enjoy time together with family and had wonderful touches for the Christmas season. The bed rooms were spacious and had wonderful air conditioning. The bathrooms had bath gel, hand soap, shampoo and conditioner and plenty of towels, including beach towels. The whole staff was incredible but a special thanks to our bartender, Kevin. Special shout out to our two favorites restaurants: 1) Soluna/ AOI sushi at the resort - spectacular drinks (especially recommend the red tide and the spicy green margarita) and food (especially enjoyed the sushi, and traditional Costa Rican dishes), 2) Sugoi Asian Mexican restaurant - solid across the board. We took several days trips, including Rincón de la Vieja national park, boat trip to Witches rock/ Santa Rosa national park, Diamonte eco adventure park, and multiple beaches (tamarindo, grande, coco, flamingo, hermosa were just some of the high points). We could have easily spent the week just enjoying the pool/ activities at the resort. The black sand beach at the resort was definitely one of our favorites. Thank you again for again for sharing your beautiful home!!

Second time is as great as the first
This is the second time we have stayed at this villa. The property and view are so beautiful! The view of the ocean from the beautiful deck can't be beat and the sound of the rolling waves 24/7 never gets old! The villa is laid out perfectly with the bedrooms on the second floor and living space on ground level. The staff are so helpful, they helped us plan all of our adventures and car rental. Highly recommend this place whether it's with family like our first visit or friends like our second visit, everyone had a great time.

Perfect gem of a place!
Our family of 5 stayed here for 8 days in June. Before booking, I had looked at so many different places but I'm SO incredibly glad we booked this one. The setting is truly the prettiest beach we visited and we went all over Northwest Costa Rica on our trip. The view from the deck is breathtaking, and the space was perfect for our family of five. The pictures of the condo don't do it justice - it is just gorgeous inside and out. We had coffee on the deck each morning, had a clear view down to the beach where our kids swam daily, and fell asleep each night to the sounds of the ocean. We visited during the off-season, so the beach and pool steps away felt private for us. We had several meals at the restaurant next door and every single dish was delicious. Eating there can get a little costly for a family of five, so we were so happy to have the full kitchen in the villa stocked with everything we needed to make our own meals. Al was so helpful with his communication before and during our stay. He helped me set up airport transportation and connected me with Marbely in the restaurant to set up a special dinner for my husband for Father's Day. He answered all my questions quickly. He also helped us get a rental car delivered to the villa, which I'm glad we did on this first trip to better see the area (although Cesar will help set up excursions that pick you up right outside the condo.) This is just a perfect gem of a place for your Costa Rican vacation.

Amazing stay! Would definitely stay again.
This is an absolutely beautiful home. The beach was lovely. We swam in the ocean every day. The home owners made the stay as easy as could be. They provided lists of nearby activities, put us in contact with drivers, car rentals, anything we needed. We booked a fishing excursion through Cesar in the office. It was so easy and the boat picked us up right on the beach! The home is equipped with everything you need. Water floaties, containers for your left overs, soaps and shampoos, etc. I could go on. You simply can't go wrong renting this villa!

A Slice of Paradise
Bahia Pez Vela is a beautiful resort, and Villa Mariposa was as much as we ever expected. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there and the excursion opportunities in the area. Cesar and his team were very helpful and accommodating, and we can't say enough good things about how we were treated. Also the food at Soluna was excellent. Overall, we give our experience a "10". We would love to come back some time.

Villa Mariposa, #10
We had a wonderful week at Villa #10, at Bahia Pez Vela Resort. The location, steps from both the striking black sand beach and the resort’s pools and charming restaurant, was ideal. The resort has a friendly family oriented feel. Our hosts Alvin and Carolanne were exceptionally helpful and responsive. Snorkelling right off the beach was very enjoyable. We would heartily recommend Villa #10….and hope to return ourselves!

Absolutely Stunning View
House was lovely, clean and well appointed. The patio is comfy and has such an amazing view you will not want to be inside. Just a few steps away from the secluded black sand beach. The on site restaurant serves delicious food, has a nice ambiance and wonderful customer service. We will most certainly be returning.

I can't recommend this Villa enough for your vacation. Extremely convenient to the beach and the clubhouse/restaurant/pool next door. Short drive to Coco beach, not much further to Playa Hermosa. Very attentive staff, and great communication from the owner of this villa. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing experience! We came with our 2 daughters, 20 and 15, and everyone had plenty of space. The villa was very clean with plenty of towels and linens. The kitchen had plenty of space and everything you needed to cook. It was close to the nearby town for shopping and restaurants. We did several excursions and had transportation provided that picked us up at our villa. We would recommend this villa 100%!

Vacation in Paradise
If a trip to Costa Rica is on your “ bucket list” and you want to stay in a community that is safe, secure and overwhelmingly beautiful, look no further. The Bahia Pez Vela Beach Resort is located on its own private beach about 35 minutes east of the Liberia airport. There is no need to rent a car, the owner of Villa #10 will help you to arrange transportation from the airport with a stop at the supermarket in Coco Beach to pick up groceries en route to your villa. The owners of Bahia Pez Vela #10 are the most helpful rental hosts that we have ever dealt with. They supplied us with wonderful recommendations for tours and restaurants and general travel information about Costa Rica that was very helpful. The oceanfront condo is really beautiful and is meticulously maintained. We really appreciated the proximity to the pool and the restaurant. Steps lead directly from the condo to both the pool area and the beach. The restaurant has excellent food. While we were there in early July, there was live music once a week and specialty nights twice weekly. The property is quiet, private and a wonderful place to relax and unwind. The interior spaces of the villa are thoughtfully furnished and very comfortable. The patio is an extension of the living spaces and the shaded sitting area makes for wonderful ocean viewing even in the brief rainy season downpours. Howler monkeys can be heard in the trees on the surrounding hillsides. Don’t think twice! Villa #10 is amazing.

Beautiful villa on a quiet cove, adjacent to a lovely beach club. The beachfront views were stunning! The villa was equipped with comfortable furniture inside and out, a well-stocked kitchen, and all the supplies you might need for swimming and beach play. The property was in a gorgeous beachfront location. Check in and out was easy, villa was well appointed, had everything you might need to visit any beaches, coolers, beach towels, etc. Owners put up Christmas tree for us and we had such a wonderful vacation, would definitely book again. Rooms and bed were comfortable, full kitchen and amenities, beautiful dining room area, comfortable lanai facing beach. Maracuya beach club right next door. Our family of 6 had a wonderful Christmas vacation here. Location was close to Los Cocos area, shopping, beaches, supermarkets, and lots of restaurants and souvenir shops as well as excursions. Diamante Eco Adventure Park was 1 hr and 20 min away, Playas del Coco and its malecon (boardwalk), just 10 min away and Marina Del Rey for Catamaron tours has a destination from Playas del Coco also. Playa Hermosa just 20 min away, Llanos del Cortez waterall just 1 hr and half away. Owners were super helpful with our questions and making sure we had everything we needed. Loved our first Costa Rican vacation.

The most beautiful villa with the best views steps from the beach and pool. Lovely spacious villa with everything you need to feel at home. And the terrace is amazing, morning coffee was always an inspirational experience. There is a restaurant on site for lunch and dinner and for afternoon cocktails by the pool the staff is very gracious. Our hosts Carol Ann and Alvin are exceptional people so friendly and welcoming and i truly enjoyed getting to know them If you’re looking for a paradise getaway it would be hard to beat this place.

Could Not Be Better
This property is simply wonderful; we plan to come back in the future. The floor plan is great for a family, the kitchen is well set up for longer stays and cooking, the beds are comfortable, the AC works well, the resort staff is terrific, and the communication with the host is great too. We had issues with the wifi at the start of the stay but the owner got it sorted out quickly. It is now great and can handle multiple video calls. The views are unmatched! I appreciated the high latches on (all but one of) the doors, as it helped keep little kids away from the water when unsupervised. The road to the resort is bumpy, and it takes about 20 mins to drive to Coco, but you'll just want to stay here in paradise. The amazing shared pool at the terrific restaurant is next door, which is super convenient. If you want only silence, you should know you'll hear some music from the restaurant until about 9pm a couple days a week. This did not bother us at all, it added to our fun. The beach was good for little kids; some days it was a bit too rough and some days it was fine. We saw a whale once and dolphins a couple times, and howler monkeys in the trees of course. Generally our stay could not have been better. This property is beyond recommended.

What an amazing property!
Stunning property! Was fortunate to spend a nice stretch of our vacation here. The view is breathtaking. Property is very clean and well maintained, and as pictured on VRBO site. On-site staff was extremely helpful during our stay, always smiling and eager to help. Similarly, the owner was easily contacted and responsive when we needed assistance. I was a bit worried that being located next to restaurant and pool it might be noisy. It was not noisy in the least, and being able to eat at the restaurant just a few steps away was awesome. This is a great property run by great people. Just book it!

So clean, interior even nicer than pictures. The view is gorgeous. I think this unit is the best location on the entire property, tucked away yet steps to the pool and restaurant and the beach. Black sand beach is unique and pretty. Food and drinks, like most reviews indicate was fantastic and we ended up not cooking at all! The office staff and all service staff so friendly, fun and accommodating. Father Roosters very good and fun restaurant too. Owner communication excellent. Highly recommend.

Amazing little gem
We stayed here for spring break. Everything is perfect. Casar and Abi were so helpful before we got there, helping us schedule transportation and excursions. The Villa is amazing and the view from the deck is breathtaking. We had coffee on the patio every morning enjoying the view. The staff at the restaurant are so nice and service is great. We took the mixology class one afternoon with Mauricio (spelling?) he was a great mixologist and the class was a blast! It’s located about 10 min from Playa del Coco, we drove into town a couple afternoons and also for dinner. I would definitely recommend this place and Villa, you won’t be disappointed.
