Horrible experience requiring a refund!!

Posted Oct. 14, 2024 on HomeAway
Ignore this bogus listing! The heat and water were not working (35° night), there was no firewood, the "200ft" walk to the filthy bathroom/kitchen (same room) was a 1/4 mile rocky slippery hike. Many texts, VRBO messages and emails were ignored..

This guest was unique in our experience.,i having hosted more than 1,500 guests in the past 15 years at our several properties. His messages were rude and profane. There was a problem with the heat, but no excuse for his nastiness. Has the behavior and language of some political candidates corrupted the discourse in our country? If so, hopefully we can bid them farewell come November.

DON’T BOOK AT THE CABIN. BOOK THE TIPI.

Posted Sep. 7, 2024 on HomeAway
Hey. Hi. I stayed at Chloe’s Cabin for a night and it was one of the worst experiences of my life. First off let me say this was partially my fault. I had originally booked the Tipi on the property because it seemed cool, but switched to the cabin because it listed having a bathroom. I made that choice. It was the wrong choice. The cabin is a filthy moldy abomination. There are ‘supplies’ inside that are all out of date by two to three years. The ‘blankets’ a bedding supplies all smell musty and like mold. The ladder up to the sleeping area is awkward to use. There is no COMFORT about the cabin. Also the bathroom that made or broke my decision doesn’t actually exist. That’s right. The listed bathroom is not actually existent. Instead there is a bucket with rusted hand rails located 100 yards behind the cabin filled with rotting feces. Yes. A bucket full of ancient refuse. That is not a bathroom. I was willing to give them a pass though kinda. I was. Like the price was cheaperish and over the phone the owner sounded like a country man. Maybe he thought the cabin was comfortable. Maybe he thought a bucket was a bathroom. And then on my way out I swung by the tipi. Y’all. Book the tipi. There is so much more effort artistry and care put into the tipi site. Let me go over some things the tipi site has over the cabin. -Running water -A shower -A fridge -A sink -A KITCHEN IN GENERAL -A SHOWER THE TIPI IS SO MUCH BETTER IT MADE THE CABIN WORSE. DO NOT BOOK THE CABIN.

Ed, .. We are sorry you did not appreciate our retreat. ..Let us point out that you apparently missed our directions, which explain that there is in fact a bathroom for the use of our guests staying in the cabin. That is clearly shown on the map of the property and directions we send fo all our guests. We will check, and if of the supplies are past the "sell by" date, we will replace them.. A bucket with poop 300 feet from the cabin?? If we noticed such a thing, we would most certainly remove it. In the 32 years we have enloyed using this cabin, mold has never been as issue. . ..Most of our guests have einjoyed their stay at our cabin. Again, we are sorry that you did not. Perfect Peaceful Getaway

Posted Jul. 7, 2024 on HomeAway
We had a great time at the cabin! It was the perfect escape from the city. The view was gorgeous, and the cabin had everything we needed. We also tried to use the canoe but the padlock is stuck, it might be rusted/need to be replaced. Otherwise everything was perfect!

A quiet night in the woods

Posted Jun. 9, 2024 on HomeAway
Rustic, but perfect. The cabin is nothing fancy, but sure is cozy and comfortable. Water from the pump was cold and tasted great. Nice bed in the loft. I slept with the upper screen open and the front door open and screen door hooked in place. Nice cool night. I thoroughly enjoyed pitching a fire and watching it get dark and listening to the woods. Had fun calling back to an owl and listening to bullfrogs down in the pond. Stirred up a buck in the morning. Just beautiful out there. Hot/cold showers at the tipi site did the job!

Very Rustic

Posted Aug. 7, 2022 on HomeAway
A bit overpriced for what was available. Very rustic, no bathroom, dirty sheets.. it needs to be cleaned more often. Lake was filthy.. An AC would be nice in 95 degrees.. this would be a great place for a hunter...

Overpriced cabin, but nature was nice

Posted Aug. 8, 2021 on HomeAway
The cabin is much overpriced. A decent price should be about $65-$80 a night. It is smelly and needs a new a new sleeping mattress as well as a new mattress for the downstairs seating. I could not even sit on it for the smell. There was also a lack of large mugs and bowls for cooking. But the view and the nature with deer, beavers, herons, turkeys and a snake (cottonmouth at the edge of the lake) were wonderful and I enjoyed sitting at the fire pit in the evenings. There is a 10 minute walk (or two minute paddle across in the canoe) to the tipi room with the toilet and the outdoor shower (which is surrounded by broken glass and is viewable from the road). Luckily there was no one in the tipi across the lake other than one night and when we were both sitting at the lake/pond in the evening we were looking right at each other which is a little strange. I did not find the lake/pond swimmable, the deck was falling apart and the ladder was not attached. There was also something in the lake that ate a big bird one evening, so I stayed on shore. So nature is a plus while the accommodations could use some updating and improvement.
