5 days in beautiful Scanno

great location near restaurants and coffee shops.
very clean. easy access and departure. not a property for people who struggle with stairs. hot water in showers is a little tricky. shower in one of the bathrooms needs a door, and washing machine could use some written instructions. overall, we enjoyed it, and recommend it with the few caveats already mentioned.

Property is tired and not good value
Posted Sep. 24, 2019 on HomeAwayIn the write up there is some pride taken in the fact that the property was renovated in 2006... that was 13 years ago... the decor of the house is showing its age.
The terrace, on the 4th level, is scruffy, dirty and although it really catches the sun, it looks across at other taller buildings not, I quote from the listing, "with beautiful views of the mountains and the town centre". You can see the top of the clock tower in the town centre from the terrace - at least you know the time.
There are 35 steps between ground and 3rd floor which in itself doesn't sound many however they are a good exercise.
The ski lift is 3 minutes away if you're Usain Bolt and only opens, in the summer, at the beginning of July. When we were there, the ski lift was 5 Euro 1 way or 8 Euro return or 20 Euro for the full day. However, only the first stage of the lift operates in summer to the rifugio at about 1,600 metres - Scanno is at about 1,050 metres.
Some things in the kitchen should be condemned under some health act. We washed everything before using it and didn't cook in the kitchen during our 4 day stay.
The WiFi (broadband) is actually a vodafone SIM and, each time I tried to use it some warning came up about paying 1 cent.... Fortunately Scanno, on my own UK phone with Vodafone, has great 4G coverage so I used that to connect my laptop to the internet. Top up your data minutes before you go.
Bottom line? Nice enough place but over priced for what you get.

Finally we managed to get unlimited full internet connetion with Vodafone from January 2020.
Our house has the privelege of having one of the few terraces in Scanno. A luxury in a town where 99pc of house have no terrace. We can see the mountains and the town center from the terrace and enjoy a nice aperitif.
This is a typical vertical house in Scanno as most of them are. We cant do anything about the steps. The house is in different levels.

Great property in ancient town
Posted Aug. 14, 2017 on HomeAwayThe apartment was lovely and spacious, and in a great part of the town. Close to shops on the Main Street. Only a couple of kilometers from lac scanno which was lovely to kayak on a really hot day.
We thought of the apartment as a bit of a workout as it's on four floors with one room on each floor. Victor was a wonderful host and very knowledgeable on the history of Scanno and Sulmona.

Fantastic Location in the Historic Town center

Nice, clean, cosy and still sufficiently spacious accommodation - everything available required for cooking and relaxing. Grocery stores, as well as hand-made cookie & noodle shops and many other shops just around the corner. Only instructions for waste disposal were not exactly comprehensive.
We (family of 4) enjoyed staying in this house for two weeks, having a second home and a base for doing spectacular hiking tours, bicycle rides, and horse riding. Flowers and wildlife are awesome. Wonderful stay!

Devo fare un appunto riguardo alla presentazione dell'appartamento: specificate meglio che le stanze si dislocano su tre piani e ci sono molte scale non proprio comodissime.

Fine settimana Scanno
Posted Mar. 13, 2020 on HomeAwayCasetta nel centro di Scanno stupenda con tutti i comfort. Se pur vero che si disloca su tre piani è comunque molto carina,calda e accogliente.
