Wonderful lake gateaway
Publié le 10 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayI traveled here with my six-year-old boy, and he loved it. The property is by a lake and we had the opportunity to go out on the water. At the end of our stay, the property owner even gave us vegetables from her garden. My son loved the stay so much that he drew pictures of the property days after our visit. It left quite an impression and we would love to book again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Simply blissful!

We arrived and drove down a wooded road which opened up to a serene lake view and the cutest little wood cabin. We were greeted by Monster which is the most gracious feline host you could hope to meet. The cabin is immaculately cleaned and supplied with everything you could hope to need to settle into a retreat away from society. It was very hot outside when we visited but the AC in the cabin was excellent. The beds and bedding were ample and immensely comfortable. The outside surround of the cabin was beautiful with ample seating. We hired the John boat and spent a whole day out on the lake fishing where we caught several bass and perch. The hosts’ house was visible from the cabin but they were scarce most of the visit and just lovely to speak with when our paths did cross. We saw loads of deer and enjoyed our evenings with the fireflies around the lake edge and cozy fire pit. We left feeling rested and rejuvenated. Simply amazing stay ❤️

Fantastic getaway

The nearest town is a quick 15 minutes away (Scottsville) and has great restaurants, an adorable bakery, and a wonderful book/coffee shop. Thirty minutes further you are in the downtown of Charlottesville and have a variety of options to entertain yourself. I would highly recommend this property for those who are looking to be off the grid, but not too far from civilization. The owner was super responsive to any questions we had and also provided a lovely welcome basket for us. Clean, comfortable, and very relaxing!

Great escape!
Publié le 24 sept. 2023 sur HomeAwaySerene, quiet, and quaint. Not the place to go if you want cell service. The hosts home is close, but we didnt see them other than passing in the driveway. Cozy cabin feel, sweet kitty out in the gardens, if you want to escape the world of technology, its a fantastic stay.

Bummer
Publié le 10 juill. 2023 sur HomeAwayProperty was very clean, host was very sweet and hospitable. However… I thought this would be a quiet get a way with great fishing. Essentially this is a mother in law suite, where the host is a stone throw away. They were always out, doing things on the property. We were unable to fish on “our side” of the lake because of the marsh, it was impossible. Which was a huge bummer! The only place to fish was directly in front of their home. Which made it slightly awkward. They also had guests over which were loud, we could hear from inside our cabin. There was absolutely NO privacy.
Overall, was it horrible? No. Just not what I expected, nor wanted out of a getaway vacation.

We apologize if your stay didn't fully meet your expectations. We would like to highlight that during your visit, it was only you and your child who arrived. In a gesture of warmth and hospitality, we extended an invitation for you to join our 4th of July celebrations. We were delighted that you accepted and even had dinner with us. We then left with our guests to attend a fireworks display, and afterward, our guests went their separate ways. Since you didn't attend with us, this ensured that you had plenty of peace and quiet for the remainder of your stay.
