Secluded Rural Retreat with elevated deck and wonderful views

The Kist is an ideal way to get away from it all. It is set in 6.5 acres of garden and grounds and surrounded by fields. It is entirely self-contained and no-one will visit unless you invite them. Our house is 100m down the garden from The Kist. We work from home so will usually be around if you need us, but otherwise will leave you to enjoy your stay. It is 3.5 miles from the nearest village (Balfron).

The Kist - an historic term for a linen box or treasure chest - is a stunning contemporary lodge set in private grounds in a beautiful rural location. A large deck area and a panoramic window in the main room allow visitors to enjoy the country experience whatever the weather. You may well find deer grazing in the garden of a morning.

The Kist is set in glorious countryside, but is close enough to Glasgow to enjoy all the cultural and shopping attractions of a big city. Some of Scotland's most spectacular countryside, including Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and the West Highland Way, are nearby. Historic Stirling is within easy reach and the Castle is definitely worth a look. Both Edinburgh and Perth are about an hour away by car.

The stylish glass fronted open plan living area includes a fully fitted kitchen complete with integrated fridge freezer, dishwasher, wine chiller and washing machine.

The large decked area to the front is the perfect way to enjoy sunny evenings and yes, there is a barbecue if eating al fresco is your thing.

There are two double bedrooms, both en-suite, with one set up as a twin room. The master bedroom has a "P" shaped bath and Mira shower. The twin room has a Coram quad shower and roomy walk in wardrobe. It is set up with twin beds.

The modern lodge offers all the advantages of a new home, in a lovely setting. Practical, cosy and stylish, you'll love being 'Kist'.

Stay in the middle of the countryside

Very nice stay where everything is done to make it easy and agreeable. The fields with the sheep are only a few steps away. Within easy reach of Loch Lomond, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

EXCELLENT COTTAGE EN PLEINE NATURE

Cottage trĂšs bien Ă©quipĂ©, chambres avec 2 salles de bain privatives, plus 2 dressings, trĂšs fonctionnel. une grande piĂšce Ă  vivre trĂšs lumineuse, avec cuisine moderne, lave linge et lave vaisselle, four, micro ondes, beaucoup de vaisselle, etc...il ne manque rien. TrĂšs propre, lingerie de qualitĂ© complĂšte et prĂ©parĂ©e avec soin par Iona qui est au petit soins avec ses hĂŽtes. En pleine campagne, dans une belle propriĂ©tĂ© bĂ©nĂ©ficiant d'un calme reposant aprĂšs les excursions, avec des propriĂ©taires qui sont d'une trĂšs grande discrĂ©tion. En pleine nature, oĂč vous pourrez observer les animaux sauvages, Ă  la tombĂ©e du jour. le cottage est bien orientĂ© avec une immense baie vitrĂ©e et une belle terrasse pour profiter du soleil. La situation gĂ©ographique, est trĂ©s intĂ©ressante pour visiter une bonne partie de la rĂ©gion. Merci Ă  Iona, pour ce sĂ©jour trĂšs agrĂ©able , avec de surcroit, une trĂšs bonne mĂ©tĂ©o. L'Ecosse, comme l'Irlande, nous avons adorĂ©, je recommande, bon sĂ©jour Ă  tous

Very well equipped cottage, rooms with 2 en-suite bathrooms, and 2 walk-in closets, very functional. a large living room very bright, with modern kitchen, washing machine and dishwasher, oven, microwave, lots of dishes, etc ... it lacks nothing. Very clean, full quality lingerie and carefully prepared by Iona who is caring with its guests. In the countryside, in a beautiful property enjoying a quiet relaxing after the excursions, with owners who are very discreet. In the middle of nature, where you will be able to observe the wild animals, at the end of the day. the cottage is well oriented with a huge bay window and a beautiful terrace to enjoy the sun. The geographical situation, is interesting to visit a good part of the area. Thank you to Iona, for this very pleasant stay, with in addition, a very good weather. Scotland, like Ireland, we loved, I recommend, enjoy your stay ...

Nous avons passé un merveilleux séjour au Kist (4 nuits). La maison est vraiment cosy, moderne, super équipée, lumineuse et trÚs propre (les photos de l'annonce sont conformes à la réalité). Aucun problÚme pour vivre & dormir à 5. Stirling, Glasgow et Edimbourg sont toutes à moins de 45 minutes de voiture, et quel plaisir que de rentrer le soir dans ce petit cocon au milieu des collines vertes. Toute la famille était ravie. Very nice home. Modern, bright, super-equipped & clean. Appropriate for 5 people. We really had a great time!

Although we didn’t meet our host in person Ioan was always available to talk, very welcoming and answered any questions promptly. The Kist itself is stunning, clean on arrival and had all essentials required for a stay! Our dog enjoyed getting out for his walk in the garden, would definitely recommend to others if looking for a quiet peaceful location.

Truly lovely place, I feel terrible that we left so early, hadn’t grabbed the cell to let our host know we left. If you’re looking for beauty and utter relaxation, this is your place! Het huisje is ruim en goed voorzien. Douche is lekker, bed slaapt goed. Keuken is groot. Loch Lomond en Glasgow zijn dichtbij. Het was fantastisch!

Second go round staying at Iona’s.A true gem. Wish I could live there permanently!!The 4 of us purchased a number of her art items. Tea towels, prints, pillowcases. Great property ...great location

Our stay was exactly what my partner and I wanted . Complete quiet in the middle of nature With only the wildlife making a noise ..that matched with the stunning views was ideal .. Local shops,cafes, pubs only a short drive and endless beautiful walks such as loch lomand, conic hill, ben lomand ..if you dont mind driving your adventures are endless all the way through stunning glencoe, or some amzing beaches!Our host Iona was fantastic, really made us welcome and feel at home we will definatly be back for another escape.....

Great location

This beautiful property is within easy reach of Glasgow, Stirling, Perth and Loch Lomand. We used it as a base for visiting family in the area and took in a few tourist destinations too. The property is well equipped and very comfortable, a real home from home.

Fabulous stay at The Kist

Just spent a fantastic week at The Kist. Beautifully appointed holiday house in a wonderfully peaceful location. Nicely isolated, but close to lovely villages with coffee shops etc. Glorious views of the Campsie hills in one direction and the Cairngorms in the other when out exploring the area. We were blessed with superb sunny and warm weather but, if we’d had more normal Scottish weather, we’d have been just as happy snuggling down to chill in the very comfortable house. Friendly and very helpful hosts. Looking forward to returning in the hopefully not too distant future.

So Tranquil, beautiful location!

If you are looking for peace and tranquillity but still only 3 miles away from Bakers, small Supermarket etc this is the place for you. Iona the host was lovely. Very comfy beds with en-suites. My grandchildren were delighted to see the sheep in the grounds early morning. We will definitely book again.
