Nice wee hotel

The shower could have been better the shower head was leaking from multiple places but overall the room was lovely and the food was amazing too. The takeaway breakfast really helped when I had to leave early in the morning.

We stayed in the cottages in the back, they were great! We appreciated the extra beds for our teens - a great place for a family!

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and in particular the family room which is in essence two rooms. You can all be together but put the kids to bed and watch TV in comfort without disturbing them!

Over-priced for what it is.
Publié le 29 avr. 2024 sur HotelsCheck-in relatively straight forward. Room very good. Whilst there was a 'lounge' area, it was just restaurant tables/chairs. Restaurant there was a bit of a wait, we had been asked what time we wanted to book dinner - and assumed that was so we weren't in a busy period. They were short staffed, which was explained once we were sat down, but this could have been mentioned when we checked in/when we were asked to book a time for dinner. Food decent enough. Disapointed there was no flexibility for changing the pre-booked breakfast. We were hoping to have breakfast around 7am, which is not exactly an un-reasonable time, but told this wasn't possible, and a take-away breakfast was all they could do. That was not worth the £15 that breakfast was charged at. Overall the main reason for my ratings and overall mostly disapointment is actually the value - almost £200 for a twin room, for 1 night! Whilst some hotels do charge this, and in some cases more, that is driven by demand, or quality, but I'd say this is just a normal hotel, does what it needs to, but doesn't justify over the odds pricing. It wasn't busy either - so it's not like the rooms were in high demand pushing prices up. I feel £80-95 would have been a more justifiable and fair price.

I am disappointed to read this review as it is not entirely fair. Like beauty being in the eye of the beholder, "value for money" is a very subjective issue and I respect that all customers are entitled to their view. However, the price of the room was not "almost 200"; it was 163.33 which is substantially less and if a judgement is to be made I believe it should be based on the correct figures. I would not describe our guest rooms as "normal" or "ordinary" at all. All of our guest rooms are furnished and equipped to a high standard of which we are proud and, the proof of the pudding being in the eating, whenever I ask a guest if they have slept well, the answer is yes - there have been no exceptions. The reason? Because we have high quality comfortable beds and the hotel is in a perfect silent setting. We are very proud of the comfort we offer.But I think there is another reason for this review. Because we were not able to offer an in-house breakfast due to the early hour at which the guests wanted it, they asked if the pre-booked breakfast included in the room rate could be knocked off their dinner bill instead. We were not amenable to that is it would set an uncomfortable precedent in the industry relating to the rules for pre-paid bookings.Concerning breakfast, the guests wanted to leave early and it was a weekend when breakfast service starts at 8 am; there is no chef on duty before then so that is why it was not possible to offer an earlier breakfast. As regards our "breakfast to go", we have a lot of guests who have to be on shift away from here by 7 am so they too cannot get an in-house breakfast but they take the breakfast to go and they like it a lot. Indeed just recently we improved it to make it even better. We certainly do believe it is worth the cost.All in all I am sorry you did not feel your visit was special but at the end of the day I hope you did enjoy the breakfasts to go which you did take after all and which, of course, did not cost any extra as they were included in your room tariff.

Lovely Hotel, fantastic staff.

I love this hotel. It is beautifully located, perfect for my Selkirk business stay but also as a base to explore the Scottish Borders.
The food is excellent with a great choice, but what really makes this a great place to stay are the so friendly and welcoming staff. Everyone is so helpful and cheerful but particular mention must be made of Leslie and Cheryl. Nothing was too much bother, and they really made my stay so nice.
I would highly recommend this hotel.
