We are surprised by this review, as we were not alerted to any issues during your stay. We do wish you'd given us some feedback on why you rate your stay so poorly.

B&H appears to be a bit of a work in progress...
I appreciate the history, but for the price would like to see considerable updates.
1. Steep stairs going to rooms. It's one thing to state no elevator onsite, but another to have to haul luggage up that staircase. I'm fit, anditwas doable, butnot easy.
2. A door that locks. Both the main entrance and the room doors were very very difficult to deal with. Especially the room door... though the front door accessible from the street was also a challenge.
3. Wifi was terrible. Neither of us couldget online for more than a mi ute or two before being bumped off. Fortunately i had phone service but my travel mate did not. When we could access was verrrrrry slow.
4. Update the pipes. I don't want lead poisoning.....
And last, 5, explain street parking.... again, maps took us to the alley. No one wants to lug suitcases around the block!!

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay with us more. We do encourage all our guests to get in touch with us if they are having issues, which you did not do. We haven't had any issues or complaints with the wifi in the building so I don't know what was happening with your wifi connectivity during your stay. Very odd. Second, the pipes are updated and I'm not sure why you think lead poisoning is even a possibility, the property is of course up to modern standards in all essentials like electric and water. Google maps takes you to the front of the entire Brown and Hawkins building, it's a short walk around to the alley. Unsure why you decided to carry suitcases around the block when you can see that there are street parking spaces in front of the building. The front door lock has also never been an issue, and the room doors do lock. Sometimes the keys are fussy for unlocking them, but locking never has been a problem! Lastly, we do warn guests that the building has stairs, and we do not ever state that there is an elevator or escalator, so again, unless you did not read the property description, you would have known before you arrived what to expect. Despite all your somewhat unfair comments, we are so sorry you didn't enjoy this wonderful old property. Perhaps a more modern property would have been more to your liking!

I'm sorry to hear you felt that way. Our housekeepers work very hard and I inspected the room myself, so I know it was clean. However, you did choose to stay in a building that is over 100 years old, so perhaps that was not to your liking.

It was fun to stay in such a historical space. Nothing fancy but we had everything we needed. Theres lots of places to eat and drink and shop right out the front door. We loved walking along the water in the evenings after our adventures. Perfect for two and a third if they dont mind the pullout couch. I'd stay again.

Hi Roger, this review is a bit insulting, considering we went out of our way to try to help you get a refund for your booking when you cancelled literally AFTER you checked in. I'm not sure what you expected, but the property description is accurate and our staff have been nothing but helpful to you.

The property was well-kept for its age. The studio unit itself was clean and cozy. The location was central to many shops and things to see.
The noise from people walking through the hallway and up/down the stairs wasn't muted by our apartment walls and made sleeping difficult. We had also paid for a queen unit and had a full-size bed instead. There was no discernable thermostat and we both were too warm overnight.

So sorry about the temperature issue, the rooms have very old school heaters which can actually be adjusted by occupants, but maybe that isn't clear in the literature in the room. As far as the noise is concerned, we do ask guests to maintain awareness of quiet hours from 10pm. Glad you enjoyed the location and appreciated the cleanliness!
