Peaceful & Serene

Publié le 23 août 2024 sur HomeAway
We enjoyed our 5 year anniversary at the Wolf Lodge after honeymooning at the Fox Den in 2019. My husband and I cannot say enough great things about the cabins. It’s all the peace and quiet we need. You meet people from around the world and there’s opportunity for outdoor activities. Want to stay in? Download some movies BEFORE you go. Sometimes you get a rainy day. Thank you Jeff for everything!

Wow! What a view!

The hike up was grueling. Going down wasn't much better. But the view is 100% worth it! It rained for our day on the ridge so we stayed inside playing games. Well stocked rustic cabin with comfy mattresses. Even the loo has a view. :)

Great adventure!

This property is all that it is advertised to be and more! The trek up the hill is a challenge, but fun at the same time. The weather wasn't particularly cooperative, but we were quite happy just hanging out at this lovely cabin with an extraordinary view.

Cute cabin, read the suggestions

Publié le 27 juin 2023 sur HomeAway
The cabin was beautiful. Well stocked with pots, pans, dinning wear, etc. Beds were comfortable and the cabin was the perfect retreat in rainy weather. Here are a few suggestions if you are planning on booking this cabin and it has been recently (or is) raining: 1. Waterproof boots are a must. The trail leading up is not for the faint of heart and expect your feet to sink into several inches of mud in some places. 2. Have good balance. The trail up and the one to the outhouse is treacherous in some places (have gloves to go up and down for the ropes). 3. Bring materials for fire starting (newspaper and dry kindling), there was firewood on site. Stove is quite short and fits half-size logs. 4. There is clear fresh water available for treating on the beach and a creek and pond above the cabin.

Beautiful and unique experience, would highly recommend. The hike up is strenuous and you want to pack as lightly as possible.

Amazing!

This is an amazing place! My husband and I really enjoyed it so much! It is so peaceful and serene. The sun set every night right in front of us! The host was SO helpful! Be aware that it quite the hike up to the cabin. Pack as light as you can. It took us two arduous trips each up the hill to the cabin. It was tough but worth it!! We stayed three nights and hiked the ridge above one day which was absolutely beautiful and then kayaked the next day to beautiful coves around us on the right and left. Got to see a black bear come to the cove and catch a fish while in the kayak. ❤️ Thank you so much.

Beautiful, Alaska Wilderness Experience

Publié le 27 août 2022 sur HomeAway
I loved staying at Jeff's Wolf Ridge Cabin. Being there at one with the Alaska Wilderness was among the most memorable adventures of my lifetime. Jeff's Wolf Ridge Cabin provides the Alaska Wilderness experience. Levi was waiting at the beach when I arrived, he was very helpful in helping me navigate the trail up to Jeff's Cabin. And when it was time for me to check out, he was very helpful at helping me navigate back down the trail. The trail has a rope to help you pull yourself up the hill and back down and you will need to hold on to this rope. I would give the trail a rating of strenuous (e.g. not easy and not moderate - but strenuous). Be prepared: 1) Again, this is a Basic Cabin in the Alaska Wilderness; but it also provides a $1,000,000 view; and you will have to work for it. 2) I traversed the hill on a couple of separate occasions while I was there, by myself. It took me about 45 minutes to ascend and about 30 minutes to descend. 3) I knew beforehand that all of my belongings - and food - for several days - would all need to fit into a single 80L backpack. I brought one 80L backpack (for up to 5 days stay) and hiking poles. For food, I brought 5 days worth of the 'Backpackers Pantry' meals. 4) Go light on dirtying up the dishes. I boiled rainwater to wash the dishes. Boiling water consumes resources. So go easy on burning through the propane. 5) I boiled water for all of my french press coffee and I boiled water for all of my 'Backpackers Pantry' meals. In 4 days I only used 1 propane canister. 6) Bring the battery bricks for charging your smartphone. I brought 2 of them and I never had to conserve the battery on my smartphone, although I did keep it in airplane mode (just to maximize battery conservation). 7) They have a cell phone boost antenna at the cabin if you need to make a call with your cell phone. You will need to run the generator to generate electricity in order to do this. 8) Go easy on running the generator and don't burn through all of the gas. In my 4 days, I never ran the generator out of gas. The generator was easy to start, like pull starting a lawnmower. It usually starts on the 1st or second pull. 9) With the cell boost, I was able to call my family (my wife, and my mother) every day to let them know how my adventure was going. 10) Again, you will want to be able to bring all of your belongings in one trip up the hill, in one 80l backpack - per person. Breathtaking views, peaceful, adventure!

Publié le 30 juill. 2022 sur HomeAway
This was an experience of a lifetime for our family (ages 12, 15 , adult). The hike to wolf ridge cabin and surrounds are for the adventurous and it’s physically demanding. We absolutely loved every detail. We had mixed weather and that will change the experience in terms of views and ease. We greatly appreciated Jeff’s communication to help us prepare, and also on site manager Levi is a gem who encouraged us to go to top of alpine trail (exceptional full day experience), helped us w sea kayaking, and set up our son with fishing gear. Thank you!

Coming back!

Publié le 7 oct. 2021 sur HomeAway
We absolutely loved our stay and will definitely be coming back. The dogs had a blast and the blueberries were EVERYWHERE. Water was a bit choppy for kayaking, but we took full advantage of hiking, enjoying the scenery, lounging by the fire and berry picking. Kitchen was plenty stocked for cooking, plenty of fire wood, propane for the stove and gas for the generator. Come prepared with food and water. The rain water collection was perfect for washing dishes. Bed and bedding were perfect.
