The Wilder House is beautifully decorated, and our room was beautiful. There are books and games if you need to occupy your time, and Brad, the owner, is both a real sweetheart and a fine cook of the included breakfasts. Chat with him and you'll come away smiling.
There are a few problems, though, most of them minor and easily remedied, such as the lack of a night light in the bathroom, the single-ply toilet tissue, and the little packets of rough facial tissue instead of a box of higher quality stuff. There's a patterned wood mat, a bit hard on bare feet instead of an area rug; Brad says he's planning to get rugs to cover the mats.
There also are some issues that probably can't be fixed. Though there's a ramp to get into the building, only Room 1 is on the first floor; the other four are on the second floor, with stairs the only way to get to them. In our room, Room 4, there's a step up to get into the bathroom, and it's a bit of work to grab onto the sink to make sure you're getting out safely. And the mount for the showerhead is so high that if you need to change its direction, a short person (I'm 4 foot 11) simply can't do it.
Those cautions aside, though, the Wilder House really is a lovely place to spend a weekend. And I can't emphasize enough what a terrific host Brad is. When he's talking to you, he's giving you his full attention. (Since he's also the breakfast waiter as well as cook, that can lead to some delays. Nobody seemed to mind them, though.)
