Poor facilities and poorly trained staff

Trade unions have great food and awful rooms
Publié le 29 sept. 2024 sur HotelsThe hotel was a complete surprise. It looks very grand on the photos and indeed the setting is grand, as is the reception area and the bar. What had not been clear to us before arriving is that it is trade union owned or sponsored establishment which was a little ever-present in the ambience pictures etc.. Our room was tiny, very old fashioned and had a lovely view of a wall. The dining room view was little better but the evening meal and breakfast were very good. Summary - great food, location and grounds, very poor room and far too political presentation. Eclectic and an education!!

Enjoyed my stay at wortly.room and food facilities were excellent, staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
The grounds are really beautiful.
However i was dissapointed with the entrance steps as there were discarded cigarettes laying around and could have done with the area being swept! Made the entrance area look very tacky!and its clear to see that the area has not beencleaned for a good while.

Dear CaroleThank you for your 10 out of 10, you are so very kind, we do appreciate your great review, the team work very hard on making Wortley Hall a great place to visit, we have lots of event on, wine nights, Christmas parties, fun family days and wedding events. We are not for profit so every penny you spend goes to keeping this historic building going for future generations to love and enjoy. The entrance is a no smoking area but some guest seem to ignore this. Gardeners are on it most days but it is a bit of a battle. We had a problem with the shower, the management and staff were excellent and even though the hotel was fully booked for a wedding, they dealt with it efficiently and moved us rooms.
