Old Mill is a gem

Yes, those pesky Asian beetles are a nuisance in October, especially as the farmers complete fall harvest. The warmer than normal weather really attracts them to south sude walls. Natural ingredients were used unsuccessfully to repel the beetles. We have since used a chemical spray (hate using but spray claims to be safe for children and pets after it dries) on window screens, window and door frames, etc.

Thanks for hanging out at The Old Mill. As you discovered, it is an awesome place to share with another couple, listen to the river, check out historic photos and marvel at the antique milling equipment. Children and grandchildren enjoy exploring, playing old fashioned games, fishing, and making memories.

There was a nice walking path along the river, and Waverly was only a few miles away for fun shopping and restaurants. Our favorite eateries wereThe Wild Carrot.and the Other Place.

First Time College Parents
Publié le 14 sept. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe stayed here due to the close proximity to Waverly where our daughter is attending college as a Freshman. It was so convenient to be able to go back and forth for all of the activities planned for move-in weekend. Our younger children took advantage of fishing on the river and treated us to a fish fry at night.

Allison, we're delighted The Old Mill in Shell Rock, Iowa, fulfilled your needs for your daughter's transition to college in Waverly. We are seldom able to interact with our guests. Relax by the Shell Rock River
Publié le 28 août 2024 sur HomeAway As a guest here, lacked for nothing. Diana and Daryl were gracious in their welcome. Very reasonable rate, easy to clean up. The best part was having the rushing waters of the Shell Rock River right out the window. Like a lullabye.

Adorable

Every detail has been thought of from the basket of snacks to the stocked coffee/tea bar to a gluten free waffle mix to the toiletries to yoga mats and kids toys! Everything we could possibly need was provided! The evenings listening to the sound of the damn just outside the home was so peaceful and the perfect way to relax after a busy day!

The mill had a great atmosphere. We enjoyed the river, and the park next to the mill. The nice grill was a great benefit as well. The owners were very friendly and responsive.
