Publié le 18 août 2024 sur HomeAwayThis is unique property in a quiet riverside neighborhood. The trains were interesting to watch. It has great river access with calmer water. Plenty of space to spread out and enjoy. Interior space was comfortable and the host was very cordial. Great trip for my husband, pup, and I.

River cabin
Publié le 8 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayProperty is as described! Lots of time not the case. Cabin had plenty of space for 6 adults for a week stay. River was super nice. Really enjoyed the stay and would stay again. Was a very hot week, the two window AC units had to run non-stop to keep the cabin somewhat cool. On a normal week they probably suffice. Road divides the cabin from the river and it is busy at times.

Not as advertised, not for people w. mobility issues

Upon arrival, the handrails leading up to the cabin were covered in bugs and spiders, and we counted at least 2 wasps nest. The stairs were quite steep, as were the makeshift steps leading down to the tiny “fishing dock”. For anyone with any mobility issues due to age or disability, this is not your property. Unless you can jump the 2 - 3 feet from the muddy bank onto the dock, you have to walk up/downstream for a different fishing spot.
This property was advertised as air conditioned. Given the 95F heat, this was a must at booking. Only the two main bedrooms have window units, with one not working for the first 24 hours. Someone came by to put in a replacement, but there was no sleeping that first night. There are 2 ceiling fans in the kitchen/dining/living and 2 loft bedroom areas. Air did not move and it got too unbearable to be inside during the day. At night, even opening the windows barely allowed for air circulation or cooldown.
The bedroom and living room furniture is not for comfort. The futon and armchairs in the living area were more uncomfortable than the plain dining chairs.
The kitchen did have the utensils, pots and pans needed to cook and have family meals, and the dining table was large enough to play board games on.
The single bathroom is tiny, and the glass shower door is held together with a makeshift hook screw.
Not sure how it’s in the winter, but this cabin isn’t comfortable in the summer!

Thanks for your feed back. Sorry that the AC unit broke down during your visit, even more unfortunate given the extreme hot temps we experienced in June. Since then the new AC unit has been working fine and also added an industrial floor fan to better distribute the cool air. No complaints since. About the bugs and wasps, they have been remedied. About the dock, its a 10' by 10' dock as shown in the pictures that "floats" on a river that changes levels quite frequently. Its unique but also challenging to have a dock at all on a river but we try. This is not a lake property. The hand made steps sunk in concrete are as sturdy as they can be but again the river rises and falls from mountain run off, the distance from bottom step to the dock can vary by a few feet but can be pulled closer by the rope.

Cabin
Publié le 15 avr. 2024 sur HomeAwayWe enjoyed our stay overall, loved the cabin! The location was the only real drawback. The cabin sat very close to a road that has quite a bit of traffic and high speeds, so letting the grandkids outside by themselves was a problem..

Thanks or your feedback...understand the comment about the river road that is necessary for the residencies along the river. Most of the time quite, but caution with kids and pets definitely advise.
