stolen beer
Publié le 20 août 2024 sur Hotels check in was very slow and stressful they could not find my booking i thought we were going to have to find another place to stay. We bought some provisions for making tea and breakfast along with some beer to chill for the beach the following day, but on going to the fridge we found the beer stolen would never use a YHA again

Many thanks for your review. Due to a technical website error we couldn't at first locate your booking. I'm pleasde we were able to get you all sorted in the end!I'm sorry to hear that your posession were taken from the communal self catering kitchen. YHA Sheringham is actually a liscensed premises so you are not allowed to bring your own alcohol onto the premises. However we would happily have kept it secure for you for your beach drinks the next day. Kind regards

The building and the area outside need a significant upgrade. It is shabby and tired.The hostel was stuffy with a smell of stale perspiration and sweaty feet.
I had to book a twin room as no singles were available and paid £90 for the privilege. Light over the mirror didn't work and I expected an ensuite bathroom. Found it excessively expensive for such basic accommodation and couldn't park in the car park which was completely full.

Many thanks for your review and I'm sorry that you did not experience a good stay with us. As a hostel we do only provide basic accommodation so unfortunately YHA Sheringham does not have any ensuite rooms. However the shave light in your room should have been working so I will look into that. At such a busy time of year and as a seaside hostel our carpark can unfortunately become quite full in which case we do have to direct guests to use the on street parking instead. I had thought that hostelling was just for young people and still think it is an excellent way for them to experience the world cheaply. However, I am delighted to inform people that in an era when B&Bs have grenerally become too expensive boutiques, the hostelling option is a very worthwhile option and this hostel is excellent - very friendly and helpful staff, very clean and cheap and with great countryside nearby for walking and visiting.

Great location - 2mins from town! Stayed there few times, but looking a litle "tired" now...ie the downstairs wet room needs a DEEP clean - it is clean but stained. And the downstarirs bedroom windows might have some of that sticky stuff put over the glass (at least half way up) so people don't get a fright when the seem me in my boxers!
