I'm sure it was a mistake rating your stay with only 1 star??? You and I had several conversations and I was under the impression that you and your cousin were enjoying your visit.

We only wish we could've stayed longer!! This is an amazing cabin in the woods. It is well-stocked, spacious, and comfortable. There are little added touches that really make it special hammocks in the back, a bottle of wine, coloring books for the kids, and maps of the area. I would highly recommend! Communication was easy and quick.

The House was awesome- quiet neighborhood in the woods huge pine trees in the yard. It was clean and comfortable- our favorite place on this trip. Also, very close to Lassen Park. We couldn't have been happier.

Nice place to stay near Lassen
Publié le 10 juill. 2024 sur HomeAwayOur family of 4 stayed 3 nights at this property near Lassen Volcanic NP as part of a summer vacation trip. It was the perfect size for our family. Proximity to the park and other outdoor adventures was great. The inside of the property looks to be in the middle of some cosmetic upgrades, but that didn’t interfere with our stay. We loved having a well-stocked kitchen to cook meals, and use of a washer and dryer. We didn’t really utilize the outdoor space due to the high temperatures while we were there. Although listed, I’m not sure there is a hot tub for guest use. There is a gas fireplace and sitting area on the back side of the cabin. We saw some deer and fox in the back yard. We like the location and amenities of this property—it even gave us a chance to get away from phones and TV for a bit. We would stay at this property again.

Great weekend getaway
Publié le 26 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayWe stayed at the cabin for a weekend trip to visit nearby Lassen Volcanic National Park, and everything was fantastic! There were so many thoughtful details throughout the cabin that made it extra comfortable. We also loved how quiet and peaceful it was, and enjoyed seeing wildlife wander through the back yard. My 13 year old liked it here so much, he wished we could stay the whole summer there!

Excellent location for access to Lassen southern entrance
Publié le 18 juin 2024 sur HomeAwayHome is in a great spot to access the southern entrance to Lassen, just make sure the Lassen highway is open when you book. We were surprised to find the highway was still about half closed in the high elevations due to remnant snow still not cleared in mid-June. This meant less access to the park, but most annoyingly a 2 hour(!) drive to get to the North Entrance of the park. This of course is not the fault of the property owners, just a heads up about the location. If the highway is open, the location is perfect for Lassen.
Be aware that restaurants are few and far between in this area, and those that are nearby have limited hours. Red Bluff and Redding offer plenty of dining options, but a good 1.5 hour round trip to either.
The home itself is adequately equipped for a comfortable stay. The owners readily admit that Wifi is slow, so be prepared for that. The kitchen is well-equipped and washer and dryer worked great. I would recommend the owners put more (and new) box fans in the home to help with air circulation. The house stays relatively cool, but can get stagnant and the sole existing box fan was extremely noisy. The bunk bed also needs repairs, some of the welds have snapped leaving sharp edges that nearly got my child's hand. Not a huge deal, but definitely areas to improve.
The property is in the woods and wonderfully quiet. We saw numerous deer wandering through. Nice fire pit out back to hang out. Overall, a nice property that I would book again.

Thanks for the suggestions about the cabin. I'll certainly make the appropriate changes.
To clarify for other guest, our cabin is 13 miles to the northern entrance of Mt Lassen Park. Most notably near Manzanita Lake.
The parks website is updated daily with road conditions changing daily, since Mt Lassen Park receives more snow than any other place in California.
As far as restaurants, yes very limited as shingletown is a tiny mountain community of 1000 year round residents. Most guests plan accordingly by bringing food and drink while they visit Mt Lassen and the great outdoors.
I'll be sure to add another fan to the 2 ceiling, and noisy box fan already there.
And, safety is our first priority for our guests. Thanks for bring the bed to my attention. I will repair or replace immediately.
Without great guests like yourself, we wouldn't be able to share our home.

Visit to Lassen

The owner thought of all the details in the kitchen, the house, and even outside on the property. Communications and instructions were spot on. We would definitely stay here again if we have the another chance to visit Lassen!

Home owner was very nice and accommodating.
We can’t wait to go back!
