It’s unique as it was a school converted to an accommodation. We didn’t expect much as we know it was not a regular hotel. The place is not well-lighted, they use motion light but not enough. No one at the property even though we arrived before 10PM so I phoned and talked to Leroy. Instead of coming over or sending someone to give us the key, he instructed me to go get the key in the Laundry room assuming that I know where it was. I looked at the side of the building hesitantly to go there as it was dark so I got my husband to come with me. Not so fun at all, after a long drive, I didn’t expect to play scavenger hunting for a key. We got downgraded to a small room that has 1 double bed due to our dogs which I didn’t realize before paying. Paid same price as my original booking and additional $40 for the dogs. We were still getting our things and trying to settle in when he phoned me to ask if I received his message to pay within an hour. There are crickets in the room and cricket noise the whole time. I asked for make up room and fresh towels but we were refused, this is the reply “ Morning Lea...We are unable to provide housekeeping due to your pets. Our accommodations will do a deep clean after your short stay. I can offer you some additional towels. ” and didn’t receive the additional towel so we used a damp towel when we came back late evening to the property. This is the most uncomfortable stay that we had. Never coming back here again. I felt like we got scammed.

Thanks Julia for taking the time to let us know about your stay. We will review and seek to provide a better experience at our facility. It would have been helpful if we knew where we fall short.

Pour : Quiet Being an old school, that made fun. Room cozy, had a nice kitchenette.
Contre : Beds have little to no support. ( had a sore back all weekend.) Don’t know how,but the shower room needs to be larger.
Emplacement : Campground walking distance. Baseball diamond. Gas statio with some groceries. 15 minute drive to Manitou beach.
Very peaceful town. Close to camp ground, where festivities took place.

quiet &. comfortable stay in a ' school building'

Publié le 13 mai 2017 sur Hotels
Believe or not , this hotel is converted from a school building ! Due to its unique structure , each of the private room is very spacious with an unusual high ceiling. The unit in which I stayed was very clean with an individual kitchen equipped with a brand new fridge , a stove , and a cute dinner table set, a sepatated living space with a big flat screen TV and free wifi. The owner was also very friendly and flexible for customers. The best part was that the nightly rate was unbelievable inexpensive with this kind of well-equipped units. The place also has the capacity for accomodating groups of campers/ travelers with two newly renovated Kitchens and entertaining rooms ( e.g. a billiard table , a movie theatre , a school-sized gym , a school sized playground / backyard of course) . It is 20- minutes driving distance from Manitou Beach . Overall, I will strongly recommend the place!

Quiet Place, Off the Beaten Path

Publié le 26 juill. 2016 sur Expedia
Pour : We loved the novelty of staying in what used to be a school. The owner was accommodating whenever we asked for anything, and otherwise gave us space.
Contre : There needs to be more airflow in the room - either a fan, or A/C, or screens in the windows.
Emplacement : The location is very close to Watrous, and centrally located between Regina, Moose Jaw & Saskatoon.
We were looking for a place fairly close to Manitou Beach/ Watrous but a bit out of the way. Simpson delivered, in spades. Tiny, quiet town, 15 minutes from the beach. We booked the "suite", which included a kitchen with a stove & an hotel-sized fridge, plus things like pots, pans, dishes & a can opener. There was a shower & toilet in the suite, as well as 2 beds (1 full, 1 single). The tv was large, and included a satellite receiver. The only thing we could have suggested for an addition would have been a fan, air conditioner, or screens in the windows - the room gets very warm, by evening, and while cooking.
