Ski-in/Ski-out, Penthouse Unit w/ Awesome Views, Walk to Village!

This unit is located in Mountain Lodge, and is one of only 6 St. Moritz units in the building, which means that it is 1000+ sq. ft. (approx. 240 sq. ft. larger than a standard 2-bedroom) and has a wood-burning fireplace. This one is a top floor, corner unit with panoramic views of the ski lift, ski slope, and the beautiful mountain lake. Pictures don't do it justice. You can watch your family get off the lift and wave down to them as they ski by! This unit has recently undergone some updating and is easily one of the nicest in the building. It is near enough to the elevator to be convenient, but not close enough for noise to be a problem. If you want a great place to make some lifelong family memories, this is it!

Mountain Lodge is one of the older buildings in Village Central, and as it was here first, it arguably occupies the best spot on the mountain. You would be hard-pressed to find another building in the village with better views, or that is more ski-in, ski-out than this one. It is adjacent to the Ballhooter lift, has easy access to a beginner slope, or you can ski down on a green or blue run. For the utmost in convenience, there are ski/bike lockers you can rent just inside the exit to the slopes. Mountain Lodge has it's own private parking lot (rare on the mountaintop), which is free to Mountain Lodge guests. It is walking distance to the Village shops (including ski rentals), several restaurants (yes there IS a Starbucks!), and Split Rock Pools with heated pool, hot tub, and sauna (additional charges apply). During prime ski season, there is even a restaurant in the basement of the building, so on those really cold nights, you can go out to eat without even going outside!

Mountain Lodge features a comfortable lobby with a large fireplace and overlook seating areas with breathtaking views of the mountain. Complimentary Wi-Fi is provided in the building, as well as in the unit. There is a coin-operated laundromat on each floor. There is a coin-operated arcade for older kids, an indoor children's play area with playground equipment, limited exercise equipment, and an indoor lounge with movies available. *These recreational areas are in a different part of the building, so while noise from these areas is a problem for some units, it is not a problem for this one. Mountain Lodge is also one of the few buildings at the resort with a 24-hour desk clerk and on-site maintenance in the unlikely event anything should go wrong. Please note that while temps on the mountain are usually cool year round, Mountain Lodge is not equipped with A/C, so if you are considering a stay in the middle of summer, you may want to take this into consideration.

We’ve been to this property several times, the views are beautiful with great access to the slopes. It’s the perfect size for our family. Brenda is great to work with and has great communication Would love to see the kitchen cookware upgraded with more casserole type dishes for cooking. Most exceptional location in several ways...
On a first family trip to Snow Shoe we did not know much about the village or properties available. This unit is in Mountain Lodge (which admittedly we now know is a pretty rowdy place in terms of all the mountain options - lots of drinking and younger groups) but of all the possible units in the entire building this unit is easily the most desirable location. Its off the main lobby rather than less desirable wings of the hotel, its far from elevator traffic, it has no unit to its immediate right. It has tables and firewood in the concourse directly next to the front door. The view however from the balcony -which is not shared with another unit using a divider - is probably the best you can get in the entire resort. The only reason the cleanliness score is docked a point isn't for the unit itself but the building that is Mountain Lodge, which is showing age and a little big of lack of attention compared to neighboring properties owned by Snow Shoe. The unit itself was as clean as one could ask for. As for everything your hosts CAN control its a 10/10 with great communications. You can easily walk out of side door of the lodge and right onto the slopes and grab a coffee or breakfast item or short walk to the village corridor with shops and bars. The ski school and rentals are the opposite side of the village if that is of significance. This is a property best suited for a family with all their equipment owned who want to walk right out and strap in and go.

Glows - Can't beat the ski out location and convenient gear lockers. Amazing penthouse view of the slopes and mountains. Loved the cozy wood-burning fireplace and spacious enough for our family of 4. Parking onsite was a huge plus for this busy resort area. Lodge staff was friendly and helpful. Enjoyed the game areas and breakfast and dinner onsite. Grows - could use a new pots and pans set, primary bath drain clogs and fills with water during shower, need to restock fireplace kindling supplies, balcony snow shoveled for better access of views.

Don’t over pay for this unit! This unit has a top notch view, but that’s all it has going for it. The unit is very dated, the full kitchen was stocked with random pieces needed for cooking. Does have a new Keurig, so that’s a plus. The ceiling fans and furniture was full of dust, carpeting everywhere except the bathroom and kitchen area…gross! The beds were very uncomfortable. Both of the bathroom showers didn’t drain and black gunk backed up in the smaller bathroom. Molding coming from the wall & fireplace hearth has broken pieces, so if you have little ones don’t let them over there.

Nice property. Rustic. Great view. Central location to the runs, shops, ski school, and apres ski. For the high season and weekend, worth the convenience with kids. Plenty of room for 4+. We had 2 adults and 2 kids so it felt like plenty of space.

Best View and Location
Can’t beat the view or location of this property. NO A/C for summer renters! Very limited on kitchenware and essentially no generic supplies such as pan spray or olive oil so a heads up there. The unit is quiet and the property was clean and well kept. As well as the lodge in general. Would recommend staying here just make sure you aren’t counting on a full kitchen setup.

COVID HASSLE
The unit was great with an awesome view. My complaint is not with the VRBO owner it is with the Mountain Lodge covid policies.. My husband and I stayed with another couple for three nights. Mountain Lodge gave only gave us two towels and two wash cloths. When I went to the front desk to ask for more they said that is all we get and we would have to use the laundry to wash what we have. We brought food for the three nights because the last time we were there some of the restaurants were closed. We cooked in our room and did have dishwasher detergent but no dish soap to wash pots and pans with. I guess mountain lodge does not supply dish soap. That would have been nice to know. We had half a roll of paper towels when we arrived and cooking and cleaning for three days with 4 adults they do not last long. I went to the front desk to ask for more but was denied. I went to the store on Sunday to purchase paper towels and dish soap but it was closed. So I ask for toilet paper which they gave me and had to use that in place of paper towels. Bottom line if your are going to be stingy with items please notify us ahead of time so we can be prepared.

We enjoyed our stay at this property. The views were amazing. Easy accessibility to slopes, restaurants, parking lot. As the property owner discloses. Hot air rises. Very warm. Never turned the heat on. They did provide box fans and dehumidifiers which was nice. We would stay here again.

Could be better but great location
The property was not properly cleaned. Carpet was dirty. Dishes were left in dishwasher. I wanted a break from the daily life responsibilities I always handle. There unit has large bedrooms, but a tiny kitchen. Desperately needs a remodel! Using the old oven, the handle outside the oven gets too hot too touch; not safe. Location is great, with excellent views off mountain. However, friends stayed in soaring eagle and both units were hands down nicer and updated.

What a view!
We wanted a place where my son could ski and we, the parents, could still enjoy the action. This was perfect! Close to the village, for resteraunts, shopping and shuttle service. The slope views were amazing, we enjoyed the snow cats, skiers and snowmobiles going by. Mountain Lodge is older, but the outside is being revamped. Family friendly. Staff was very nice. Condo was as advertised and clean.
